Barcelo Solymar- April 2010

Hey,

My first day on the forum!! I am just starting to plan my wedding in april 2010 (14-15) at Barcelo Solymar. I see that it doesnt look like one of the most poular resorts in Varadero.. is there any reason for this? I have never been to Cuba before so I am not sure.

Is there anything I should be aware of about getting married there? I understand that all I need is my passport and Birth certificate and no translation is required since this is my first time ever being married.

Does everyone on here book through a travel agency or has anyone ever just booked individually online. I have a lot of family back east as well in the west so we are flying from all over and the cheapest rates seem to be for us to book all online on our own and flights are only spaced one day apart for some! I spoke to a travel agency but I found the rates to expensive and this the easiest way to do it!

I emailed the Hotel to speak to someone about booking the wedding. Are they usually pretty good at replying to your e-mail in a timely fashion!!!?? Lots of questions I know but I am ready to get this ball rolling :)

Thanks,

Jules

Barcelo is really great and wedding coordinator is super nice. Very laid backwink.gif

It's pretty popular resort - they have a wedding there everyday. Gazebo is nice and big and surroundings are pretty as well. We spending few weeks of April in Vardero every year - weather is great as well.

Resort is close to the town and basically you can walk there - which is great:)

you can see pictures from this resort here , this was a very short wedding coverage, unfortunately we didn't went for a session out of the resort - but you can see resort very well (password Varadero):

If you've never been to Cuba before you'll love any resort you stay in. You'll be so amazed with the Cuban people and listyle that you won't notice most things more experienced Cubagoers notice.

Two things I would recommend for that resort...

1) BRING BUG SPRAY! There are a lot of mosquitos there, especially April/May. We got eaten alive when we went in May. The Barcelo is a beautiful resort with tons of folliage and therefore tons of mosquitos.

2) The service at the bars, especially at the lobby bar, is notoriously slow. I definitely recommend bubba kegs. At least you can stock up when you finally get service.

The great thing about the Bracelo is that you're walking distance from almost everything. So pack your walking shoes!

Congrats and have a great time!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
