Why Jamaica

For us, it was the place where we fell in love . . . Again! We always said we would return to get married in Jamaica. It's just something about that island that we love. We've been to the Bahamas, Mexico, and others, but we always compared those trips to Jamaica.

We love the all inclusive. Since we don't have children, we're not really into having a great deal of little bits at our wedding or on the resort. So a big place was out of the question. Mo'Bay seems nice, but the plane thing was an issue for us. Negril is peaceful, has a beautiful beach and seems perfect for our destination wedding!

We wanted something affordable for our guests, and since most of are coming from the philadelphia area the flight is only about 3.5 hours. Also, there is so much to do for everyone, and I simply love our resort!!! We are doing a site visit on tuesday. I can't wait.

We picked Jamaica because both of our families are from Jamaica, it's where we took our first trip as a couple and where we will be taking our first trip as a family with our son, we knew it was a place where everyone invited would have a good time and we don't need to translate anything or get any blood tests done.

We picked it for the beaches! Didnt hurt that we didnt have to bother doing the translation thing either. We had never been to Jamaica either. We're definately going back. We had an amazing time and we loved the people we met and the hospitality. Cant wait to go back!

Those are great reasons. Im jealous of the only 3.5 hour flight. ours from the midwest will be around 5.5 which i guess could be worse! I seriously didnt want to do a 14 hour flight to hawaii... JA just looks like the place to be, and after seeing some pretty happy couples come back... im completely EX-CI-TED to do it as well!!!

I know after much decisions we are glad to be doing the plunge in JA!

We had originally chosen Dominican Republic but alot of my family members have been there numerous times. I kept going back to the Riu in JA...with alot of research and talking to people we finally decided to book with Riu in JA. There is only my aunt and uncle that have been to JA at a different resort of course. They loved it so much! Also the price that I was given by multiple TA to go to Dominican vs. JA, it was alot cheaper to go to JA - which sold me right there and then.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
