did you make an entrance for your AHR?

Recommended Posts

I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for (sorry MODS if this is somewhere else).

My AHR isn't for a year away but just wondering if you guys that are having/had one did you do any kind of entrance for you and your hubby? (like at a regular reception). Or did you just kind of mingle around with everyone as they came in?

I know I have tonnes of time and a billion things to think about with the actual DW but today this is the thing I am questioning lol. I wonder what I will do/think about once the wedding stuff is all over with. shots.gif

I just mingled with my guests. But, then again, I did not do any of the wedding "traditions" at my AHR. It was more of a very big party. So, I guess it would depend on what you are going for with your AHR. I know I have read that some girls have done the full wedding reception with all the traditions.

We just mingled with everyone as they came in. I don't think it would have worked to wait because people arrived over the course of 45 minutes to an hour, just like a regular party as opposed to a wedding. That being said, you could always mingle and once everyone is there, have a formal introduction/entrance of you and/or your bridal party just like you do at a reception.

That was the one tradition we did repeat too - the first dances for us, mother-son and father daughter, and everyone loved that!

In retrospect, I think I wish we would have said a couple words to everyone too and/or had our best man/maid of honor give a toast (not their whole speech but maybe say a little something), but we probably would have needed a Mr. Microphone or something because the yard was really big and it's tough to pick a time when people are always coming and going and it's more of a regular party.

We did a lot of reception traditions, but not that one. I just couldn't find a good way to work it in. It worked out for the best though because DH and I were both running behind getting everything set up, so I was barely dressed and in the room when it started and he had just headed home to take a shower about 15 minutes before it started so he was a good 20 minutes late. LOL!!

We just mingled because it was just a big party at my parent's house in the country. And actually, a lot of our guests showed up REALLY late because there was a massive accident AND construction on the main highway up to the house! So, even if we wanted to do an entrance, we wouldn't have been able to! I think if you're planning a more formal wedding reception for your AHR, then go ahead ... if it's just going to be an informal party ... just greet your guests as they come in and make sure you mingle with everyone!

We plan to be announced by the dj..during the cocktail hour we plan to have the video played for our guest who didn't attend..(esp. since our mom's aren't going to Vegas)..it would be nice to play for them..so the dj will announce us..we will come in say a few words...get our drinks and then mingle w/guests during the remainder of the cocktail hour...thankfully my boss is catering the wedding & helping do set up...

I would love sparklers for when we leave though!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
