Worried about the beach

Recommended Posts

Okay girls that have been to Cabo and got married. Or have traveled to check it out. I am worried that the beach in Cabo is not what I am looking for. Some of the pics you see the water looks green and the sand looks really brown yucky color. But it some it looks amazing. I picked Cabo b/c I felt like there was going to be a lot of things to do. For instance a.t.v tour, glass bottom boat. But now I am not really sure I have made the right decision. Girls help me out is Cabo a good choose and why did you decide on Cabo??

Thank you all.

The colour of the water and sand varies from beach to beach, and depending on the time of the day as well, as the "temperature" of the light changes affecting the perceived colour of things, but in general it has a beautiful colour, but not white sands as in Cancun.

As for activities, Cabo is the place, you can find countless ATVs, buggies, canopy zip lines, bungee jumping, helicopter tours, boat tours, swimming with dolphins, horseback ridding, snorkeling tours, diving, deep sea fishing, whale watching, sightseeing tours, parasailing, 4x4 tours, rhino tours, off-road tours.... and it goes on and on.

You couldn't have made a better choice in my opinion.

I got married in Cabo 2 months ago at the Hilton (so in the Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo) and the water looked gorgeous every day. I have never been to Cancun/Riviera Maya but my guests who have been to both universally said that they thought Cabo is prettier, for what it's worth. The sand is not white sand, it's regular sand, but I don't think it looks yucky - but everyone has their own opinion and if white sand is important to you, Cabo probably isn't the right place. If it helps, you can see some pictures of the sand and water on page 2 of my wedding review http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t43913

There are lots of reviews and pictures of weddings in Cabo on the forum - I know Ana has an amazing number of beautiful pictures posted of her wedding at Dreams earlier this year. I can honestly say I've never seen pictures of Cabo the way you described it, but I pretty much just looked at professional pictures of weddings there and pictures here on the form. In my opinion, Cabo is one of the most beautiful places for a wedding -- and it almost never rains.

Thank you so much. I am now happy with my Cabo decision. I just needed a little bit more info before I am made my complete decision.

Mich999- As for you wedding at the Hilton it sounds amazing from the reviews. I really love the Hilton but I am looking for a all inclusive package for my guest. To keep the cost down for the them. Hilton does not off a all inclusive package do they?

Megan- the Hilton does not offer an all-inclusive, though most of my guests booked a 90 day advance bed and breakfast package that included the breakfast buffett every day, which ended up being a great deal for them, though that was not through our wedding rate, just a general offer that coincided with our wedding (the bed/breakfast offer is constant, the price isn't). We actually picked a non-all inclusive to try to keep costs down for our guests, since only about half were big drinkers and we arranged dinner for Friday and Saturday (obviously), so many guests only had to come up with snacks and dinner for Thursday or another day or two if they came earlier. We also did a costco run for beer, wine and snacks for the week. But who knows if my rationale was correct because I was the opposite of you and wanted a non-all-inclusive for our wedding, so I didn't really research the AIs. I fell in love with the HIlton after my research, and that was that!

Dreams was only a little ways down from the Hilton and looked beautiful and there are tons of Dreams brides on this site.

Now that you've decided on Cabo (yeah!), as you saw from my review, I have to put my plug in for Juan Carlos Tapia as photographer - he'll make sure the sand and sea are the right color!!

Here are a few advance pro pics from my wedding, the last one being the Whale Watching Terrace at the Hilton where we had our reception

And here's the most recent JC slide show from Ana's wedding (hi Ana!), which is just amazing!!

I have looked at a lot of work of Juan Carols and he is amazing. I have a family friend that is a pro photographer. I am debating on paying for her flight and resort stay. It all depends what the prices of what my W.C comes back with.

As for were we are staying we have pretty much decided on the villa la estancia.

La Estancia Cabo San Lucas - Villa La Estancia Cabo San Lucas - Villa La Estancia Los Cabos | Villa Group Resorts

Our guest will have option between inclusive non all inclusive package.

Do you have the link to your wedding slide show I would love to see your pictures.

Hi again Megan:

I received some pictures when I starting looking for places and have the same concern, and what a local photographer explained to me, was the sun light is fundamental for the water color, specially in the pics. Cabo is beautiful, but It will all depend on the person who takes the pics to get the best of every shot.

Megan- La Estancia is a beautiful resort! FI and I went there on our "babymoon" LOL. We were a little nervous at first bc I read so many really bad reviews about it, but we went for it any way, but I only book 3 nights and we figured if it was bad we would go some place else. We ended up staying and extra week. There is NOT 1 bad thing about the resort! Great choice! We actually saw a wedding when we were there, it was beautiful and the employees at the resort really knew what they were doing, actually I remember them moving people that were watching in bathing suits away from the wedding area. You will not be disappointed! Congrats and best of luck!

I' am not sure who your family friend is, but I hired Juan Carlos for our wedding and he is simply amazing. He is $$$. but if your budget allows for it, it's money well spent. I have my wedding slideshow below in my siggy, if you want to look at more of his work.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
