I already take a multi-vitamin, I've got low iron and low B12, so it solves both of those along with anything else I may be getting low on ^_^ And I'm REALLY happy I can have milk instead, I love milk cheesy.gif Only 1% though, 2% tastes too rich lol And I didn't realize I could still have cheese, that's AWESOME! I love cheese cheesy.gif Maybe I should have been a mouse...

Hi Girls, I'm officially starting today (my cheat day...lol) I've already had a giant iced coffee with cream and a bagel with cream cheese.

Tonight we are going to a french bistro restaurant where I probably will have a steak.. yum.

I have a few questions --

Are there any brands of protein shakes that are better than others (taste-wise)? I know that I HATE that 'fake chocolate' taste so any recommendations for vanilla or strawberry kinds?

- Milk -- is milk okay on the low carb days? I think skim milk does have some carbs in it. I would assume it's okay on the low gi/gl days...

-- Snacks -- for low carb days, I will probably just eat a cheese stick or some almonds but what about on the low or high gi/gl days? Any reccomendations?

-- yogurt - does anyone do the greek yogurt (fat free, plain, high protein) and if so what days do you eat it on?

-- tea - i know it says to limit caffeine but is plain unsweetened green tea something that would be okay?

Has anyone found a good website to get the GI numbers of foods? I tried the The Glycemic Index one but couldn't easily locate foods. I did find nutritiondata.com which shows the GL number and found that to be helpful.

OK I just went to the grocery store and bought all my items for week 1 of the priming phase.

Here are my anticipated meals for the week:

breakfasts (I will just rotate through these, a different one each day)

- egg white omelet with turkey sausage and reduced fat colby jack cheese

- scrambled whole egg + 1 egg white with a piece of ham and a few slices of tomato

- egg white omelet with ham and tomatoes

- egg white omelet with reduced fat colby jack cheese and spinach

- chicken breast meat with melted fresh mozzarella cheese and tomatoes

Lunches

- Lettuce wraps with sliced chicken breast, fresh mozzarella cheese, and cut up red peppers

- Pork tenderloin, broccoli (left over from dinner)

- Grilled chicken + veggies (left over from dinner)

Dinners

- Pork Tenderloin with roasted broccoli

- Grilled boneless, skinless chicken thighs with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and zucchini

- Steak tip kabobs with beef, mushrooms, onions, red peppers, and zucchini

- Grilled chicken and vegetables

- Grilled tuna or salmon and vegetables

Snacks

- walnuts

- celery stuffed with cream cheese

- reduced fat colby jack cheese sticks

- sliced chicken breast deli meat

Sound good? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

I love chobani greek yogurt, I eat it almost everyday, I'm glad you asked about what day would be appropriate for that, because I'm curious too!

As far as the protien shakes, I have some vanilla whey protein mix, I forget what brand it is, I bought it at walmart. Everyone says that they don't taste very good, I've never minded them, but it's probably because I mix it with milk or in the blender with fruit and stuff.

but has anyone tried mixing the protein powder with water and ice in the blender? I'm wondering if it would just be really gross and hard to drink frozen or if it would make it a little bit tastier.

I did some more research -- I think the chobani yogurt is best for the low gi/gl days because it does have 9 sugars per serving. So it's not good for the low carb days but at least it's not out of the picture entirely:)

However, I was considering it for the night time snack in lieu of hte protein shake because I think most protein shakes have at least 9 sugars? So if there's a shake with 9 sugars or more, it would probably be okay to switch it out for the chobani... (I think)

Hey girls!

I joined a diet over here in the UK - lighter life - and it has been absolutely fantastic for me! I've lost 3 and a half stone in just under 4 months. I'm delighted and it really helped shift the weight fast for my wedding in a few months.

Basically its just a really low calorie diet, but it has all the nutrients you need. It got a bit tedious towards the end to be honest, but now I'm slowly reintroducing food (and healthy food this time!) it seems a lot better.

Good luck with it. It's a long hard process, but really worth while. I've not been this thin for about 10 years!

Thanks for checking that out!

So, I decided to get up off my butt and check out my protein powder. I have "Body Fortress" in the vanilla flavor. It says that one scoop has
2 grams of sugars, so I'm not sure if substituting yogurt instead would be okay, maybe some of the other girls can check how many sugars are in the powder they have to see if there is much of a difference. I wish they gave sort of a standard for the protein powder, as far as calories, grams of protein, grams of sugar, etc....

Can't wait to get started with this when I get back!

OK so after I posted that last post, I went out to Sams Club and bought some EAS Myoplex protein powder (vanilla) and it only has 1 sugar for 1 scoop.. so, you're right I probably can't substitute the chobani for the protein.. but I def will be enjoying it on the low gi/gl days!
I will try it tomorrow night and let you know how it is, but I'm preparing for it to be chalky and gross. I hope that if I set my expectations very low that it might not be that bad..lol

I don't drink milk on low carb days but it should be ok for low gi/gl days, in 1 cup (125 ml) of 1% milk, there is approximately 8g of carbs I believe.

You probably shouldn't have almonds on low carb days as they actually contain quite a bit of carbs in them, surprisingly...sorry about that. sad.gif

I have regular yogurt mixed with a scoop of vanilla protein powder as my a.m. snack on low gi/gl days

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
