Need Help on time of year to get married????

Recommended Posts

I am asking for any advice possible.

I am getting married in Playa de Carmen but can't decide a time of the year... we are stuck on any particular date and that is part of the problem!

We just know that nov, dec and jan are not on our list.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

HOLA... I hope we can help as we have been experiencing lots of weddings in the Riviera Maya and for sure have some insight as to the gameplan for timing your wedding.

There are high seasons in Playa, there is no doubt. The weather in Playa is so very nice from November through April, temperature wise. The months of May - September are generally HOT, steaming hot... Especially in July, August & September.... Wow, we are talking 85-95 and near 90% relative humidity every day. That is so painful when wearing suits or jackets or even long sleeves, which some guest feel obligated to wear...

I'd say anytime between November - March. Traffic on the streets seems to be higher in November and falls off into mid December and gets slower in January. Mid February the traffic starts to pick up and generally hotels start to raise rates because demand picks up for bookings, and the high crazy season begins....

For sure, check out our Seasonal Guide and read about our thoughts on ceremony start time (links provided to sunset schedules too). Hopefully this can shed some light on your question!

Cheers & good luck planning!

I am not sure when the season is but I would check out the rainy season and the hurricane season and avoid those. My FI's cousin had a DW in Rivera Maya in the end of October and hurricane wilma interrupted and they ended up having to pay for 2 weddings because they had to leave before the wedding in RM (tip: get travel ins.) Hope that helps!

Thanks to all for the great information and comments.

The travel agent is pulling some prices together so that may seal the deal for a value for our guests...

So if we go with February do you think that 6 months is too soon or would you recommend waiting until next year? (that seems so long... I am not so patient) :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
