I'm getting married at the Sandos Caracol in January 2010 and I'm just wondering if anyone is willing to share their experience getting married there. I haven't started working with the wedding planner there yet but would love any tips!

Thanks!!

I'm getting married there in just a few weeks (September 4).

I haven't found anyone else on here getting married there, so I'm glad to see others!

I have been there twice and really enjoyed the resort. The wedding planner seems accommodating, but is VERY VERY VERY slow to respond. I often send him emails several times before getting a response and my travel agent has emailed him too. But when he does respond the answers are decent and he hasn't said 'no' to any of my requests really.

Of course I will know more in a few weeks! Feel free to pm me with specific questions and I will do my best to keep an eye on this thread, so we can start a discussion to hopfully help others. Glad to find another Sandos Caracol bride!!!

Hello!
I was recently married at the Sando Caracol, If you have any questions about the resort or the wedding please don't hesitate to send me an email!

Here is a lil info about my day!

My wedding day was very low key and organized! We didn't get married until 5pm. Our day basically went like this:

We made hair appts. right after we arrived as they only have one hairstylest on a day. My bridesmaids had their appts starting at 11:00, 12:00pm and I was at 1:00 my hair took about an hour and a half. After that I went back to my room where my sister did my make up, We got dressed and by this time it was about 4pm. We then went out and we had brought our own photographer so she took a bunch of photos of me and my sisters and me and my dad. The golf cart picked us up a little after 5 (you have to keep rememebering that its mexican time!) We got to the wedding site, Karina met us, she qued the music, and everything went very smoothly after that!

After the ceremony what we did is: family photos, and photos of the two of us, in the beach and a few around the resort. While we were having photos took we hired a Mariachi band to come play for an hour which was fantastic! we have some wonderful photos taken with them!! We also ensure there was a bar set up and we had finger food brought out which was $5 a person...great idea as our dinner wasn't until 7:45.
We had reservations at the Steakhouse, which was awesome! The steaks were HUGE and everyone is still talking about the dinner! After that, we had the reception on the terrace which is just off the Mexican Restaurant, here we had some speeches, cut the cake, had the first dance, and then partied! We were there until 11pm, and after that some people headed to the disco, but didn't last too long, and other's went straight to bed!

It was a very low stress day, which is exactly what I wanted!

As for the boys, it was even less stress for them! They hung out on the beach all day until they headed back up to the bestman's room to get ready, they were down on the beach for 4:30! So even easier for them!!

We met with Karina the day after we arrived and we went through her binders, chosing the meal, flowers, arch decorations, dj or no dj, I gave her our ipod the day before the wedding with the order of music to be played. The flowers arrived at our room about an hour before the ceremony and they looked fantastic! I wish I could have brought them home!

I know how difficult it was to plan as I couldn't find anyone that had gotten married their before us!

Oh, if your wondering we had the Mexican Riviera Legal package.

Hi! Congrats on your wedding! I hope everything went well with your wedding.

I am planning to get married at Sandos Caracol in January 2012, and wondering if you can share your experience.

Was your ceremony at the Beach or Gazebo? how was it? Was it private or too open to the public?

Which restaurant did you choose for the reception? how was the party set up?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
