Should we personalize our travel mugs?

Recommended Posts

So I'm pretty sure we are going to order some type of insulated travel mugs to include in our OOT bags. However there are some discussions about whether we should personalize them with our monogram/logo and location, or whether we should do something more generic that just has the date and location.

Certain people like the idea of using the monogram to tie into the whole "theme" and just give it that personal touch. Others feel that if it has our names on it, it may not be used as much once the guests go back home.

To try and keep things fair, I won't say who it is that feels one way or another until later on :) So do we personalize, or not personalize the mugs?

I say personalize them; I know for myself, I'll grab whatever travel mug is in the cupboard (regardless of what's printed on it) when I am rushing to grab a cup of coffee and head out the door to work!

Plus, that will be a fun story for your guests to tell about the fantastic DW they attended whenever anyone asks about it...or if they're having a tough time during icy cold winter months, they can just close their eyes, take a sip of whatever yummy hot beverage they've got in the mug and sigh, thinking back on the beautiful beaches and warm weather of the tropical location in which they spent a few days with great family and friends. That'll warm the body and the soul!

I love the idea of the monogram on the mugs, it is a great way to recall a good memory and people will remember a great vacation. People are not going to throw it away after just because it has your name on it, think about it the mugs with nike and other brand names still get used it is just a different kind of logo but just with a pleasant memory attached.

I was right there with you until I found a good compromise. I bought insulated mugs that have a slip insert. You can print your design on the slip insert and use whatever you like but then after the wedding and people are home they can change our the slip insert to whatever they prefer!! Google slip insert travel mug and you will see what I am talking about. I might mention that these were less expensive too than personalized ones.

IMO... mugs are mugs. If people like mugs they are going to use them regardless of what is printed on them. If people don't like mugs they won't use them regardless of what is printed on them. Do what is easiest, most cost effective and makes you happy!

I have so many random travel mugs in my cupboard and they all have some sort of business logo on them. When I grab a mug I don't really care what it says, and I imagine most people don't either. I know some have concerns about personalizing the tote bags thinking people won't use them again, which they may have a point, but I honestly don't think people care what's printed on a travel mug.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
