Advice needed/vent

Recommended Posts

Honestly, with the resources out there at our disposal (like this forum) you could probably even do without the consultant. You already found the resort yourself AND you found out about the catholic/legal ceremony. There's so much research available out there that you could do on your own.

When I first started planning, I thought I would get a WC, but seeing how many brides (especially on this forum) do very well without one I decided against it. I think it depends on your comfort level.

i also signed up with dw dot com and was definitely NOT satisfied.

They tout that they deal 'exclusively with destination weddings' (not true - They outsource and you just get a TA in your area -- I only found this out when the TA accidently answered the phone, 'hello, Liberty Travel' ) If I wanted Liberty I would've went there myself!

they tout that they will price match (not true) - I wanted a site visit and send them the expedia price and they would not price match it. There's way more to this story but suffice to say, they lie and pressure you to pay HUNDREDS of dollars more for fake "piece of mind". The TA had the gall to tell me that if I booked on Expedia and my flight was canceled due to bad weather that I would "not have a leg to stand on". (uh, completely NOT true)....

I didn't want my guests who might be less travel-savvy to fall for such a line.

In the end I had to fight with the company to get my deposit back. Terrible experience all around.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
