DH and I are going to Kansas City Labor Day weekend and I'm not sure what to do for entertainment. We're going to a Royals game on Saturday night, but I need help figuring out where else to go. Neither one of us has ever been to the area. Thanks!

If you are into some culutral and educational items, in the heart of Kansas City by the river area they have revived, there is a museum on a steamboat that they found. I think it is called the Arcadia? I thought it was a great museum and then all along that area they have little shops and cafes, etc.

A couple of places I liked when we visited:

Union Station Kansas City

Jack Stack Barbecue - Official Site - First Taste of KC

Country Club Plaza | Country Club Plaza - The Country Club Plaza: Kansas City?s Premiere Entertainment District

Also, make sure to check out all of the cities fountains! I had no idea Kansas City was known as the city of fountains until we visited last year.

Experience Kansas City - City of Faountains

Enjoy your trip! KC is fab :)

Are you kidding me? I feel like she and I are turning into the same person. Too funny!

Thanks to everyone so far. Jack Stack is definitely on the list, just not sure which location at this point. I'm also hoping to hop over the border to Kansas at some point to add to the number of states I've been too!

Keep em coming. Thank you!

I lived in KC for several years during college and hope to move back there some day:) My FI's family all lives there so we go back several times a year. Try the downtown area called the Power and Light District Power & Light District after the Royals game. There's a big courtyard with a DJ and over 10 bars in one area. All of the bars are different too so you can go as informal, or as dressy as you want. I can't remember the names of my favorite bars there, but there is a piano bar (Howl at the Moon?), a fun sports bar that plays great music and people dance on the bars, a trendy dance club (Mosiac?) and I also like the bar area at the bowling alley Lucky Strike. Our last visit there was a few months ago and the weather was nice, so the outside courtyard area was packed and people were just hanging out with their drinks listening to the band on stage.

There's another great area in KC called The Plaza, which is on the Missouri side, Country Club Plaza | Country Club Plaza - The Country Club Plaza: Kansas City?s Premiere Entertainment District. There are some fantastic restaurants, good shopping, and fun clubs there. If you go to the Plaza, my personal favorite bars are O'Dowd's (an Irish Pub that has great bands and a good roof-top deck) and Reverse (a swanky more hip nightclub).

You'll love KC. If you're into BBQ, you must have some while in KC....they're famous for their BBQ. We used to go to this dump named Gates BBQ when I was in med school a lot and it is soooo good. It's not too far from the Plaza area. Have fun!

Everyone's already mentioned some great things. The Steamship is the Arabia, I've done it twice with family and enjoyed both times. Oak Park mall is actually right off the corner of 95th street and Quivera in Overland Park - about a half mile off of I-35 to the east at the 95th street exit. There is also great shopping at The Legends off 435 and State Street. They've got the hot spots nailed if your looking action, Power and Light district and Country Club Plaza. If you're looking for something a little more romatic and low key one of my favorites is Wines by Jennifer in Parkville (Wines by Jennifer - A Global Wine Boutique) just north of Downtown. A husband and wife travel the world tasting and buying wine, they feature a different "flight" for tasting each month for $8 pp and offer some light snacks as well to pair if you like. Wine for purchase as well. Hope you enjoy your stay!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
