mich999... good point! I was thinking it might be nice to wear the dress too, for the guests that can't make it to Mexico. The AHR site is putting up a big video screen so we can play a video of the wedding at the beginning of the reception... that way people who weren't there can see it... but I think maybe I should wear the dress too.
Holy cow FI and I had the same idea! Lol we are now trying to figure out how to do this since the venue for the NY reception really doesnt carry a video set up in the room my FMIL chose..

With regards to the dress, im equally torn.. But i really want to sport something different for it. I see it as just a party and not my wedding but i do like the idea of wearing the dress in the announcement and the first dance for ppl that didnt get to see it at the wedding and then changing.

I was thinking about doing the video at the AHR as well. :)

Anyways, I don't plan on wearing my wedding dress to the AHR. Our is going to be several months after our wedding plus it's going to be more of a laid back luau. I think I'll just find a cute simple dress to wear instead.

I am definitely wearing my wedding dress for about 4 hours and I see the majority of the brides on this thread are wearing their dresses too! That's excellent! I feel we owe it to our guests that were unable to travel to our DW in Mexico. We will also be playing our wedding video at our AHR!

I think my hair will be close to the same style as it was in Mexico. I will have a real ivory orchid in my hair in Mexico but I bought a nice silk lily to put in my hair for our AHR. My FI will be wearing his linen suit at the AHR too.

I still haven't found a dress to change into later but I'm on the lookout!

Good Luck to all of you!

I won't be wearing my dress for our AHR. We get married in November so we are waiting until after Christmas to have our AHR because we know how busy everyone is during that time of year. It would feel weird to me to wear my dress that long after the wedding. Also our AHR is going to be basically an afternoon cocktail party. Probably no dancing but we will be having a cake since I won't be doing one in Mexico. I'll probably do my hair the same and I figure it's a good reason for me to buy a cute new dress :)

Helpful thread. I never even considered that guests would care whether or not I was wearing my wedding dress. I'm still undecided on an AHR but if I have one I will clearly have to wear my dress. Now I have an excuse to buy a second dress to trash- just to keep the original in good condition.

Me too ! I would never NOT wear it! I can't wait to wear it twice! My AHR is just a few weeks after our trip, so I hope I don't eat and drink so much that it ends up being tight! lol....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
