What to wear at AHR???

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

I was so surprised to find out that my fiance really wants me to wear my dress again at the AHR. I guess that it never occured to me to ask him about that (oops). He feels really strongly that our guests would really like to see me in my wedding dress. I was so touched that I think I may have changed my mind and am going to wear it. Maybe I will bring a back up in case I want to change later in the night.

Let me know if you find anything! I am looking for a cute, long white dress for the TTD session too. I'm fine getting a used wedding dress even, but would prefer to spend only about $50 on it.

My AHR will be more like a AHP (At Home Party) as we are renting an upstairs area at a bar and having beer/wine, hors d'oeurves, cupcakes, music, and a slideshow.  Because of that I don't want to wear my wedding dress again - close quarters, drinks to be spilled, and a casual atmosphere.

My fiance and I will be getting legally marrried at the courthouse beforfe we fly to Mexico.  For that day I have bought a bridesmaid dress in white so as to be a bit dressed up, but not too much.  I plan on wearing that white bridesmaid dress for the AH"P" as well.  I still get my bridal white, but I get a dress that is a lot more appropriate for the event we are holding.

I was talking to some people at work and they kind of gave me the look of "why would you do that" she even went so far as to say that a wedding dress is only meant for one day?!  OBVIOUSLY she has never been married so I figure she may feel different once her day comes.  But I have so many family members that can't go to jamaica for one reason or another and they are going to want to see me in my dress...and I want to be seen in it!!!

I know!  Most of the people at my AHR aren't going to be in Jamaica, so thats why I am going to wear it again, well not the only reason, the main reason is I feel so pretty in it, hahaha.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
