Dreams Palm Beach or Melia Caribe Tropical ????????

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I have narrowed down my top 2 choices for my Punta Cana wedding, I am really trying to decide between the Dreams Palm Beach and the Melia Caribe Tropical Resorts, both of them have beautiful properties and lots of amenities and fall in the same price range for my guest. I need to make a decision before all the June 2010 dates book up but I am stuck.

Also how long does it take for the Melia staff to get back to you, I know the normal is around 2-3 days but geeezzz is the Melia on another schedule ? The Dreams Palm Beach got back to me right away like the next day I request info) anyhow enough with my babbling lol.....popcorn.gif

Can anyone tell me there personal opinions on pros and cons for both resorts ?

Hey Irdavis23! We had initally chosen another resort and were having issues with the communication and a few other things so we switched to Dreams Palm Beach. I was very impressed with how quickly Melani and Dreams Palm Beach was to respond to all of my questions no matter how many times I emailed her...and so quickly! There is alot to be said about that in my opinion! We also were considering the Melia but we heard that it is a very large resort and we were looking for something a bit smaller (even though we will have a large group). In the end, it is up to you about what type of feel you are going for. Good Luck in deciding and keep us up to date!

Thanks Erinsny, I agree with you Melani has been great and she responds to me very quickly as well.

This is soooo frustrating and I am soo overwhelmed, I wish I could find the resort that has everything I want for the best price ( unrealistic I guess ).

I have been reading reviews on The Melia Tropical and they all say things about the resort being too big, the rooms not being clean, staff not being so friendly, and having a hard time with resturaunt reservations. Has anyone experience these same problems ?

Hi there!! My fiance and I have chosen Dreams Palm Beach as well. We are getting married on May 7, 2010. Melani, like Erinsny said is very nice and extremely helpful. She responds to e-mails rather quickly, sometimes within the hour. I have had 3 or 4 phone conversations with her now and she seems great! She is willing to help in anyway she can. I've spent a lot of time on trip advisor reading all the good and bad reviews about Dreams Palm Beach. I find the bad reviews are around mosquitoes, or waiting 45 minutes to eat dinner at the restaurants. The good reviews, talk about how beautiful the resort is, clean rooms, good food, and extremely friendly staff! It was on our top 3 list, and after speaking with Melani, we made our choice quite easily. The other co-ordinators at other resorts aren't as fast in their responses. We e-mailed the Paradisus Palma real 3 weeks ago and just got a response today! Hope this helps!!! Good luck in your planning! :)

Thanks Roxannechante, it does help. I think the real reason I like the Melia, is because of there gazebo it is just gorgoues and it seemed to be a lil more private than most. But I do like the fact that Melani has been very responses and helpful. we will probably go with Dreams Palm Beach or Dreams Punta Cana.

Ok soo after going back and forth I have actually decided to go with Dreams Punta Cana because they have better recpetion sites to accomadate the number of guest I will have and I love the way there Terraces look. I think the resort is also a good size , not to big and not to small. Now I'm just waiting on Deyanira to confirm my date before it's taken. **fingers crsosed**

Hi Irdavis, I too am trying to decide which Dreams to stay at. Friends of mine have stayed at the Punta Cana a couple of years ago where my BF's sister-in-law got married. They said it was awesome. Also, my neighbours just got back 2wks ago and said it was amazing... if you have kids going, they have a really good program. I have been feeling very overwhelmed as well as it is a lot of pressure to choose a hotel that has something for everyone!!

I also heard that the beach is not quite what the pics show... not nearly as turquoise as it looks (from my neighbours) but right now it is hurricane season, so not sure...

other than that, everyone I have spoken with about the hotel raves about it... 99% sure that`s where we are going to go too.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tam,

I went thru the same things and both Dreams were great and I heard good things about both, so my decision really came down to the reception sites and Dreams Punta Cana had the better of the 2. I too was soooooooo overwhelmed for about a whole month trying to decide and figure out what was best for me and my FI, my family, the kids everything, it became soo much i had to take a break from it and refocus on what the whole trip was about ( Our Wedding) so I made my decision yesterday. I feel so relieved now that I have made a choice. if you need info on both resorts I have there packages and menus. There is a thread on here that has alot of brides who recentley got married at Dreams PC and Dreams PB and that has helped me sooo much. Everyone is great and soo helpful with info and pictures. Let me know if you need anything.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
