Hello Everyone,

I was amazed to see how many people on this forum are willing to devote their precious time to helping others by sharing their own experiences and giving helpful advice. This is such a wonderful idea and I am happy to be a part of it.

I got engaged to the Love-of-My-Life Rich, on March 27 (his birthday and our 2nd anniversary). He came into my life at the point when I resigned to the idea that some people (read: ME) never find their true love. How wrong was I...I couldn't be more in love.

We really want to get married this year (beginning of Dec is our tentative time range)...so there is not much time left to plan a wedding. It seems that DW vs. Traditional Wedding is more realistic at this point...and hopefully more fun as well. As we are on a budget (not much time left to save) and some of our friends, who we'd love to come, are not going be able to afford a trip to an expensive resort, I am trying to decide whether our goal is attainable so soon. Does anyone know of an affordable yet beautiful place that's easy to fly to? A place on/near a cliff (or beach) with lush green surroundings. Since we both love nature, I am looking for a place with lots of natural beauty. Hmm...I know this is a tall order, but the true question is - Is my order TOO tall?

I would be grateful for any thoughts/advice in regard to our time frame and destination!

Thank you in advance.

Ania

Welcome Ania!

I think your goal is attainable, for sure! What is your budget like? The Caribbean is gorgeous, and has everything you want, but it is a little more expensive. Tammy's suggestion of Florida is a good one too, and might work better with a smaller budget.

First things first: Budget. Then your priorities, we know you like nice scenary, but where do you see your ceremony taking place? Is it on the cliff, or beach - maybe a garden? Next, what kind of accomodations are you thinking of? An all-inclusive, a villa?

Choosing the location is the hardest part - after that, it's all gravy! wink.gif

Hi Ania! I'm getting married in Jamaica. There are some (supposedly) gorgeous cliff areas in Negril, Jamaica. I went with Riu because it's quite affordable, but still really nice. There are 2 Riu locations in Negril - Hotels Negril, Jamaica - Riu Hotels & Resorts. Amanda is getting married at one of them if you want more info about it.

Another plus is that you can fly direct to Jamaica from New York & Newark airports (not sure what aread you're in). Good luck with the decision - let us know your plans when you figure them out!! smile29.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
