Is this dress appropriate for a Cancun weddning?

Recommended Posts

I think the dress is so beautiful. My only question would be how warm you got in the dress as you were trying it on. I am getting married in the Riviera Maya in June so I am very worried that I am going to be sweating during the ceremony. As long as the dress isn't to hot when its bustled up, I say go for it!

I am getting married in a gazebo that overlooks the ocean so it is not directly in the sand. The ocean is the backdrop so I too was looking for something soft and found a beautiful ball dress. It was not what I originally wanted but I loved it. My mom said that is does not matter as long as it is what you want. So go for it...

Ok ladies... So I had the big moment of truth day. I went to the bridal salon with my mom, Matron of Honor, Maid of Honor and a close honest friend at my side. I met the designer of my dress, Matthew Christopher and hit it off, he was so amazing, picked out my dress in question and a few others to try on. Dress after dress, looked good but not as good, finally I put on Lalique, I immediately got emotional and butterflies in my stomach and knew for SURE she was the one. I walked out and all four of them gasped and nodded and tears, perfect.

I bought the dress! The first one I had in question.

Matthew gave me 10% off, measured me personally and told me he's making a pattern for me to make the dress for me back in NY, no alterations needed! He also bought me my wedding shoes! Him and I picked some out, how amazing is he?

I was too excited to wait until I got the pictures from my MOH, I'll post those as soon as I get them tomorrow!!!!

Thank you all SO much for your advice and kind words, it truly helped me feel confident about my decision smile03.gif

Ok here are some of the pictures from Sunday, they aren't great because the dress doesn't fit yet but you get the idea. It's off white, super light, not hot or heavy at all and so comfortable, when the tail (peacock) is bustled up it looks amazing!

I got 10% off due to the trunk show, he took my measurements for me as he is creating a pattern back in NY (no alterations!) and he bought me shoes! What an amazing guy! (That's not the shoe I got BTW, the sales lady was just clowning around, we were having a great time... mutiple people were taking pix so that's why we aren't looking at one camera!)

We also got a bunch of postcards with him and the models with his dresses on and he wrote me a sweet note for my wedding album :) The day couldn't have gone better if I asked for it.

Thank ALL again for your input and positive helpful advice, I couldn't have felt better about the process thanks to you all :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
