Maui photographer

Has anyone ever worked with Marbelle, Nancy Nelson or Wedding Photographs Hawaii? I am almost certain that Precious Maui Weddings (Deanne Nakamura) will be planning my February 2010 nuptials. According to Deanne, these are the photographers we may choose from.

I read a some very old posts on this forum about Nancy Nelson...the couple didn't feel that her work really stood out. Based on the websites of their work, Marbelle appears the most impressive.

Any thoughts? Thank you so much ladies!

I'm also using Deanne from Precious Maui Weddings for my October 2010 wedding. I've looked throught the different photographers web sites and I like Marbelle the best. When I was doing my research everyone was saying to choose a photographer that has a bunch of photo's from the same wedding. Anyone can have a few great shots but a good photographer will get many great shots. The Marbelle website had many photo's for several different weddings and they all looked good. So that's how I decided to go with Marbelle.

We just got married in June, and although we didn't use them for photography (we brought in our own photographer), we did use Marbelle for video. We purchased an unedited video and the quality turned out great. I did some editing to it myself, and for our AHR everyone raved about how great it was! Good Luck in your selection!

Hi Laura -

Sorry to post here, it would not let me reply on the private message. Due to financial reason with some of our family and friends, a little tough to ask people without jobs to fly to Maui ): we are having the ceremony here and going to Maui for our honeymoon. But there was a couple other people on previous threads that had good luck w/Precious Maui Weddings. Let's just say in this economy I don't think anyone wants a bad review so I think she'll be great. Good Luck, Happy Planning.

Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't heard of any of those photographers. I have been looking for a local Maui photographer myself for a wedding in Wailea and have found the average cost to be around $2,500 for only an Art Book (or photo album) that includes 75-100 images (no 3x5 or 8x10 or rights to images included) for 3 hours of coverage. For $2,500 I can get a lot more (pictures, hours of coverage, and a second photographer) with a photographer here in the state I live in (CA.). I wonder if flying out a photographer while costing more in the end (due to paid airfare and other travel expenses for photographers out of my pocket) might be more worth it due to how much more I'll get back.

If you are looking for a photographer in Maui, how do the prices and wedding photo packages seem to you? Seems they charge more and give back less.

If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Thank you!!

Susan

Susan, check out Joanna Tano on the island of Maui. She just did my wedding and was more reasonable than some of the others. We paid around $2,300 for five hours of coverage and 300 digital files (with the rights to publish). We also got a small print credit with her. She was the sweetest thing, and had such a wonderful eye. I wish I would have hired her for longer so we could have taken more photos. They turned out beautiful. Jackie, your pictures are beautiful!

I also am going to use Joanna Tano and I'm pretty excited about it! I found that her prices were pretty reasonable and her portfolio was definitely my style. I'm only using her for 3 hours unfortunately b/c we're having a luau reception. It's $1500 for the 3 hours, 150 images on DVD, online proofing gallery & $75 print credit.

Hi Jackie, thanks for sharing your lovely photos! I booked my photographer (Amity) last week and am getting the following for $3,500 in Maui: 1 photographer, 5 hours of coverage, 8x10 art book, all images on a dvd with rights to reproduce, and posting of pictures online. I was able to negotiate the price down slightly. Amity was actually the most reasonably priced (with palatable sample portfolios) off a list of preferred vendors from the Grand Wailea. If she is consistent in her approach, I think (and hope) she will be worth it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
