Help....undergarment questions !

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment for my first dress fitting on friday in Edmonton (a 3 hour drive away) so I called them today to see if I should be bringing anything and they said everything I'm wearing underneath my dress and shoes. Do you think I have any of that?.....NO! So the question is for a strapless dress what do you reccomend strapless bra or bustier and why?

Also (oh yes theres more) for shoes I really haven't decided between flip flops or barefoot and am pretty sure I dont want a heel so do you think that will be a problem when measuring the bottom of the dress? I really wish I thought about these things more than 3 days before :) Ugh!

Can I just ask if your wedding date is next February, why are you having a dress fitting appt so early? You usually don't have your first dress fitting until 3 months before your wedding. That doesn't mean you can't go try on your dess and think about shoes, undergarments (bring a variety to try on or ask the dress shop if they have some to experiment with) and accessories. But they shouldn't be pinning and cutting anything this early, IMO.

Hey ...reallyhuh.gif? Now I'm stressed haha! I bought it at Pure Bridal. I found it in January, they ordered it and it arrived in June. Nobody ever said anything to me about waiting for the fitting. I guess it's in case your body changes (Though I've weighed the same since I was in grade 9 wink.gif Yikes, should I be cancelling this.....I really didn't want to have to drive that highway in the winter sad.gif

Kris - if you're not worried about your body changing at all, there's no rule that says you can't do the fitting earlier - I was just pointing out that there was no need to decide undergarments and shoes in 3 days and rush to get it done when you have plently of time. Maybe reschedule for September/October so you don't have to drive in winter but have more time to decide what you want to do about undergarments and shoes. Regardless of when you do your first fitting, I would suggest bringing both types of undergarments to see what works best with the dress or asking if they have sample ones you can try.

Kris-

I would definitely re-schedule. That way you won't stress out and you will have the time to buy the shoes you want and the undergarments you need. There really is no need to go for a fitting this early. You don't want to rush yourself and then regret things. I shopped at Pure Bridal and didn't have a very good experience there- the consultant I had was NOT very knowledgeable at all!! Oh well... Godd luck with everything- I know it will be fine!!!

Really? That sucks, I found them to be the most helpful of all the salons in calgary and Edmonton haha I guess it depends on who you get....Also I really wanted a pronovias dress so that kind of limited my salon choice.

I just phoned the salon, I think Im just going to take the dress on friday (make sure everything is ok with it and the color is right) and bring it back to calgary to get altered (that way if I have to do more than one fitting I don't have to keep driving out there)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
