Any Chicago area 2010 brides out there?

I saw there was a Chicago get together not too long ago but I think most of those brides were 2009 brides and are WAY ahead of me in planning, or some may have even been married by now. Of course they could share valuable experience as well :) but I thought it might be fun to find other 2010 brides who are close to same stages of planning and maybe get together?

No one I know personally has ever done a destination wedding (I've heard a lot of second hand stories, but no first hand experience by any of my friends) and sometimes I feel like they just don't get what I'm talking about.

I'm in the NW suburbs, but open to traveling into the city. Brides from southern WI or even NW Indiana wouldn't be that far either. Anyone local brides interested?

You're definitely lucky to be able to go out of town so often - and Chicago is definitely a great place to go! SO much to do in the city! Where do you stay when you come out here (city/burbs)? I'm in the burbs now but lived in the city during college and had way too much fun. Of course, that was awhile ago, lol. Let me know the next time you're coming in and maybe we can get together.

Hopefully other Chicago area brides will find this thread and we can get a small group together. I know I've seen a few others from the Chicago area floating around on here.

So where are you with your planning? I feel like I'm behind - I have so many ideas, but just haven't done anything. I spend way too much time on here researching - there's just SO many great ideas! I know I just need to get it together and start doing/buying stuff already.

Haha...I usually live at the Hyatts while I'm in Chicago. Lucky enough to still have family who works for the company, so we take advantage of the free hotel stays. Im usually at the Regency on Wacker, sometimes down at theMCormick center. I'll be in town next sometime the week of the 16th. Might be the week after, because I'm celebrating my b-day all over the place this year. Don't know if I'll be in town all that week or if we'll be at my aunts in Moline. Either way, I'd definitely be up for the commute if you wanted to get together.

Ahh...sorry....my computer decide it wanted to post even though I wasn't done typing yet. As for planning....heh. I like to tell myself I'm on the ball, but I know this is the farthest thing from the truth. I have my dress,AHR is booked, trip is paid off, and our date is booked. Other than that it is pure CHAOS.. Still don't have FI's suit, our wedding party is a mess, and I haven't really started thinking about what to put in OOT bags or sent out invitations or save the dates. FML. I'll get things together sooner or later.

HI ladies!! I am another Chicago bride. I actually live out in the western suburbs. I totally feel you on the fact that other brides just don't understand about planning a destination wedding. Like you can't just go meet with your WC to go over details once a month!! I am also down in anyone wants to get together for drinks, I work downtown but could also drive downtown on the weekends.

I totally feel behind in everything but I know I am about right on target once I get passed all my anxiety! I have found my dress, booked our resort, booked our trip, picked out our attendants, and am currently working on invitations. But still so much left to do!

Hi Brides! I am also a Chicago bride and we are planning a wedding in Riviera Maya for August 2010. I grew up in the northwest suburbs and now I am a little more west due to work. I am already stressing over planning this wedding! I am leaving this Wednesday for Mexico to tour resorts...that I am VERY excited about! My parents are travel agents, so that helps out GREATLY in planning the wedding! You all have a lot more planned than I do...I'm hoping once we get back from Mexico we can finally start planning! I'm glad this Chicago thread was started...what a great idea! :)

I'm kind of flexible until the end of the month, but don't know my schedule after that. My son plays travel ice hockey and tryouts are the first week of Sept, so I kind of have to wait and see what team he makes and get his schedule, since I will need to play chauffeur, lol. If we meet in the city, it would probably need to be a weekend for me, because driving downtown on a weeknight is just craziness for me. I'm in Hoffman Estates - where is everyone else? That will help us figure a kind of central place where hopefully none of us has to drive too far.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
