hockeymom97 - I kind of know how ya feel. My cousin (who was like a brother growing up) was diagnosed with stomach cancer 3 days after Christmas and my god mother was just put on dialysis and may not be able to travel for our wedding. It's been hard lately. Good luck to your mom, tell her to stay strong and kick some butt!

Ladies, I work just north of the loop, but downtown and live in, what we call, West Town. I'd love to meet some other Chicago brides. We are currently waiting for confirmation that our date has been approved from Paradisus Punta Cana and I'll finally be able to breath a little!

And NO I haven't even started thinking about my dress yet.

You arent behind with your dress. I just got really lucky that the designer I liked was having a trunk show in barrington at L'Amour. I tried on about 10 and loved them all! I did have an appointment for Macys too. I think they start around $1200. And try on a bunch of different styles...I never though I would like the one I bought.

Sorry to hear about your cousin and your godmother sad.gif What horrible news and how sad to have 2 very close people to you impacted like that. My thoughts are with you and I hope they both pull thru ok.

And similar to what you said I'm worried my mom may not be able to travel to our wedding now. There's a part of me that almost wants to cancel the destination wedding - or at least postpone it. My parents were probably going to be my only family able to make it. It's just kind of sucked the excitement out of me. In the beginning I was obessed with this site and I loved looking at all my planning stuff but now it's like a chore - just one more thing I have to do. And I know it shouldn't feel this way.......

I think I just have to take it day by day for now and hope things improve. But omg, do I need to get moving on my dress. I think I'm going to see if I can make it into David's Bridal this Sat and see what happens.

I haven't even went dress shopping yet! My family is all in Orlando/Boston so I'm waiting until April or May for us all to get together and go dress shopping. Let us know how your dress shopping goes & how you liked the places you went!

Oh - and I live in the south loop, right next to Soldier Field

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey girls! I'm so happy that this thread started up again. We tried to meet up a couple of months ago and it was just really hard to coordinate with schedules. I am up for trying it again though!! I work in Chicago, but live in the western burbs so I am flexible in the meeting place. I am getting married July 10, 2010 in Islamorada, FL. It's less than 5 mo away now, yikes!! I just bought my dress a couple of weeks ago. I bought it at David's, it's one of their spring styles. It's short in the front, longer in the back. At first I thought I would hate it, but ended up loving it! : )

Hockeymom & Coley, I am so sorry to hear that about your family members. My thoughts are with you both!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
