Recommended Posts

We just used martha stewart invitations. We used the wording on the template from the website: Print Your Own Stationery at Print.MarthaStewart.com

Glad it was helpful!

The bonfire was so much fun!!! I was so focused on the wedding day that I really left the welcome dinner in their hands...aside from picking the food and putting the music together. We were pleasantly suprised at how lovely everything looked when we arrived at the beach that evening. The set up was wonderful and the service was top notch.

I would highly reccommend it to anyone, if it's in the budget.

Great review!! Thanks for the information and pictures. My cousin just got married at Secrets Maroma Beach last month and freaking loved everything about it!!

She said everything went great and she wouldn't have changed a thing!  And her photos are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

These postings are so helpful to future brides :)

I hope to get married at Secrets too! (probably the Montego Bay location sometime next year)

Happy Planning to all!!!

hello!

so great to find your detailed review!!  i'm new to this and you've answered so many of my questions, thank you.

a couple more questions i have, if you don't mind answering...

first off, i'm getting married in mid july this year, how was the weather??  was it unbearably hot?  showers at all?

do you recall when the sun set?  cecilia keeps telling me between 5-6, but whenever i look it up online it says 7:30 for playa del carmen on that date...?  we want to plan our wedding an hour and a half before, so it's pretty crucial we figure it out.

cecilia mentioned there are no shuttles to and from the hotel, but we can pay $200 for hotel "transportation" from airport both ways.  did any of your guests take taxis?  any problems? otherwise, do you mind me asking how much you paid for the shuttle service you set up?  did you set that up online beforehand?

a big thanks for the advice to let our banks know we will be out of the country!  never thought of that!  wondering how you went about paying for everything?  did you pay with us or mexican currency?  do you pay for everything (wedding related) once you get there?  do they take credit cards?  what about the activities outside of the resort... ziplining, taxis, etc... what currency did you use?  if you don't mind me asking, just because i'm so clueless on this issue, how much american $ and how much mexican $ did you have with you/ did you need for your trip?

up until last night, we thought we were the only wedding that day, which is what she had told us that in the beginning.  because of this i felt comfortable deciding on many things once we get there.  i send her an email last week saying we were going to choose the location of the reception once we get there and she responded with "i would advise choosing your location asap as all of the other brides are choosing and options are limited".  WHAT!??  let's just say i am beyond shocked and frustrated.  my question is do you know if any reception areas have lighting?  it will be dark and would like to not have to pay for extra lighting.  i assume the pool grounds have the pool lights... do you know if the terraces/balconies have lighting?  also, thanks for the heads up on the mosquitos!  this makes me realize that i will need to choose a reception location that is not near the "jungle" side.  we did not do a site visit and cecilia is not giving us very direct answers.  any suggestions on any of this?

thank you SO much!

ali

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
