So I am trying to save some $$ and am considering doing my own make-up. I am pretty good at doing my own so that's why I thought I could save a little extra money in this department. My problem is that I don't know what colors I should use and how I should go about applying my make-up. I usually wear brown tones.....brown shimmery eye shadow and brown eyeliner on the top and the bottom with mascara. The wedding colors are light pink and chocolate brown. Does anyone have any inspiration pics or ideas. I would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks girls!!!!!

I hope this isn't totally pointless advice but you might consider going to a MAC or other makeup counter (I'm a big MAC & Chanel fan, but everyone has their favourites). You can generally make an appointment for a make-over for a pretty minimal cost (free to up to $50) and then the cost can usually be put towards cosmetics. That way they usually give you a bit of a lesson and can recommend colours for you based on your wedding colours. Be sure to mention if you plan to be a little tanned or if you need products for skin that may be a little more dewy (from the heat/humidity) and they can advise you.

Good luck!

I agree with the above. I went to the Laura Mercier counter (also a good one to try in addition to MAC - Bobbi Brown also has great options that go with the colors you like) and had them do my make up and write down everything. I got many samples of things too.

My advice would be not to skimp on anything skin-related for your wedding day (e.g., primer, foundation, concealer, setting/translucent powder), but you can save $$ on eyeshadows if you find colors you like. L'Oreal has great colors as does Sonia Kashuk (@ Target).

I'm agreeing with and doing the above also!

The MAC girls are amazing. I have walked in and said "I have Spirit (matte lipstick color) and I love it. I need something slightly darker and just a little more shine." The 1st thing the girl recommended was absolutely perfect.

Oh - one thing I just remembered. I'm sure you will - but just in case - do tell them that you will be wearing the makeup for photographs/flash. (I once bought this amazing slightly shimmery foundation from MAC that made me look like a million dollars in person and like some sort of space-alien in photos!) Generally though, there products are nice and pigmented so they last and they look fabulous in photos.

:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
