Wedding dress mission in LA - help!

Recommended Posts

Ibex International is definitely a great place to go -- they actually have tons of Maggie's to try on. I did this with my own dress because I could not find it anywhere else -- tried it on, loved it, then ordered from another store that price matched the price I found on line -- that store is House of Brides in Torrance. The owner, Maggie, is wonderful and has tons of dresses in her store also can order just about anything you see online!! She is really sweet and will price match anything and really give you the best price.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! I went dress shopping on my own for the first time this Sunday and was there for 2 hours! In the blink of an eye too... I found a dress, outside of my price range which was totally my nightmare. Ugh! It's so uniqute and gorgeous and not at all the style I was going after.

I don't know how to post photos... but I'll try

Heard of Jenny Yoo? She has amazing, beautifully made gowns that are simple and modern. There are some styles may meet your requirements, I tried on the Mira Long myself and came THISCLOSE to buying it. check out the website, there's a showroom in LA you could visit :)

In Ivory... they put the birdcage veil on me which I intend to wear and it just looked amazing. It's the most unique dress I've tried on and I wanted a vintage modern look which this completely achieved! It's a 20's/30's art deco look that I love. My FI was going to wear a vest with a white button down shirt, sleeves rolled up and a loose tie. We just wanted that vintage look we love.

What do you think, my mom says it's inappropriate for the beach but we're not getting married on the sand, we're getting married on a sky deck.

Please give me your honest opinions, I'm supposed to meet the designer this Sunday and try it on for him!

Thanks!

Amy

Ooh that dress is gorgeous! Personally, I think "beach-appropriate" means different things to different people-- anything from a simple sundress to a big gown. And the fact that you're not actually getting married in the sand gives you more leeway.

Those are the LA locations for Maggie dresses! If you go to maggiesottero.com and go to store locator just click california and it will list every store they are sold at! Hope that helps!

Although I didn't get a Maggie dress, I did buy mine at Wilshire Bridal. They don't have a huge selection to choose from, but I did like the dresses they did carry.
