Wedding dress mission in LA - help!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so far I've been to 6 bridal stores in Los Angeles... in one weekend mind you wink.gif

I can't believe I found NOTHING... everything I've been scouting online and in Bridal magazines is not available in california... Melissa Sweet Reverie for example is NOT sold out here.

I'm going nuts, I'm looking for a strapless, sweetheart chiffon, flowy beachy look. Everything for some reason seems to have beading or jewels on it which I want none of. I want beautiful draping and fabric flower details.

Does anyone have any suggestions for good bridal stores out here to try on that style and then at least I can order the dress online if I need to?

Thanks to any help!

One thing is for certain, Davids Bridal (if you have one out there) may destroy your dress if you buy it there or online. I, from the sounds of things several other brides on here, would NOT recommend them. So many people have had HORRIBLE experiences with them. Best of luck to you!

I am one of the unfortunate David's Bridal brides out there. But I knew going in what NOT to expect- good service, knowledge, etc. They really are the Wal-Mart of the bridal stores, that's for sure.

With that, I've heard nothing but super rave reviews for La Soie. A good source for recommendations is Yelp. They have tons of resources for you!

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thank you all for the suggestions!

David's Bridal is very near by but I am not willing to go there... I have heard terrible things.

Maggie Sottero has beautiful dresses I just wasn't sure where to find any, I will start looking specifically for that brand and give her a try.

La Soie is on my list to go to this weekend, hopefully that works out for me! =)

I'll post my dress if I succeed

I know you specified Los Angeles but on the off-chance you're willing to take a drive. Check out The Dresser in Fullerton. I had a humuliating experience at DB & was turned off to shopping for a gown for months. In any case, the experience at The Dresser definitely made up for it & it's where I ordered my gown.

Kitten, I have found that dress shopping in LA is tough. Lots of places to choose from, but all I found was that they all come with lots of attitude! Have you tried looking at priceless bridals? I will send you a pm with the link. They are located in the valley. I watch Good Day LA and this is where Jillian bought her dress. She did a special segment on how cheap and great they were. I looked at it online, but went to their store to actually try on dresses. They were great to work with. Good luck and I know you will find your dream dress!

Did you go to Robertson yet? There are a bunch of bridal stores on that street with dresses like you are talking about...I warn you though, a lot are overpriced...so if you find one you love, call around and look online to see if you can get a better price elsewhere...my friend and I did this and save $1,000 on hers!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
