Name: Melissa

FI Name: Steve

Wedding Destination: Dreams Cancun

What made you choose this destination? We visited the resort in July 2008 and just fell in love with it. Up until then we hadn't even talked about getting married. Once we saw the price for the wedding packages, it was basically decided.

Wedding Date: early July 2010. We recently contacted the WC, so we're hoping to book a date pretty soon!

What made you choose this date? I'm working on my PhD and July is probably one of my least busy months.

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? Different shades of blue, brown and orange.

What is something unique about your wedding? No one in my family has ever dreamed of having a destination wedding, so we'll be the first!

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: I moved to Minnesota from the east coast 3 years ago and already have the typical Minnesotan accent!

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: Well so far, I've ordered my dress, we've found Mike's outfit, our invitations are designed just waiting on sample paper before ordering through Cards and Pockets, I've ordered our sand ceremony frame, we have our guest list, and we've put deposits down with I travel 2000 and with the hotel! We've recruited a family friend to be our photographer, we've asked our MC's to help lead the reception, my brother will be doing the music for us and Mike and I have decided on doing a Wedding Dance Evolution for our first dance! How's the planning going ladies? We have about eight months till July!!Time flies so fast. I'm a little anxious about it all and hope it all comes together smoothly.

Checks: Booked venue, ordered dress, found a TA, sent out STD's and travel info., booked travel & hotel, created website, got officiant, booked photog,

In the beginning I was completely overwhelmed and had no focus but things are slowly falling into place. I actually have a vision of what I want.

What made you choose this destination? We love the Riviera Maya area and always wanted to get married there. The hotel had a nice wedding package and was afordable for everyone attending. Also we have our neices and nephews coming who are still teenagers so we needed it to be a family resort.

Wedding Date: July 16, 2010

What made you choose this date? We needed it to be in the summer so the kids would be out of school. June was out since 2 of the kids are both graduating. We didn't want to make them miss out on grad parties and trips so we decided on July. It had to be either a Fri or Sat and this is what the hotel had avail.

Have you decided on your wedding colors? Blue and sand. I wanted the colors of the beach and ocean. I have my 2 sisters for the wedding party. Haven't decided which color they are wearing yet. I will figure that out as we dress shop.

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: Well, I have only been engaged for 1 month so I am just starting out with the planning. Now that the hotel and wedding is booked, I feel a huge weight has been lifted!! But I still have a long way to go.

Yes I am! HEY SOROR!!!! It is definitely a small world...lol! I may see you since we are coming in on July 1 but we aren't leaving until July 9. I spent 1-2 months just on organizing a multi-sheet spreadsheet of every aspect of this wedding, so after I finished that... I just started going down the list when I have downtime..lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
