I'll start us off :)

Name: Mandy

FI Name: Chad

Wedding Destination: Sullivan's Island (Charleston,) SC

What made you choose this destination? I was able to reserve a beach front venue through my work for free! Plus a beach wedding sounded perfect for us since FH family would have to travel anyway

Wedding Date: July 17, 2010

What made you choose this date? We chose 6/5/10 at first for our 2 year dating anniversary date, but we weren't able to reserve the venue for that date, so we chose the next available based on the tide charts :P

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? Canteloupe, Green Apple, and Nectarine (medium orange, medium apple green, and medium reddish orange)

What is something unique about your wedding? we're doing everything ourselves with (free :P) help from friends and family

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: I'm happy to be a part of this community and look forward to sharing ideas and learning from all of you.

Jenn & Andrew

July 18-24

Destination is TBD.

I've been engaged for a year now and finally decided on a date! We have a few teachers that are close to us so timing was tough. I wasnt keen on travelling in July however there are worse things to sweat over! I'm having a hard time deciding on the location.

TA's are also pushing back on me deciding with pricing so far out. Is anyone else finding it hard to decide without know what $$ are for July 2010?

Whee! I was just wondering the other day whether we July brides had our own thread. Thanks Mandy!

Name: Ashley

FI Name: Anthony

Wedding Destination: Captiva Island, FL

What made you choose this destination? Anything is better than Indiana wink.gif Nah, I just really love the beach! We visited 9 (9!) resorts in southern Florida and liked South Seas on Captiva Island the best. We wanted to stay in the states to make travel easier for our guests.

Wedding Date: July 17, 2010 (date twins, Mandy!)

What made you choose this date? July because we're both teachers and will be on summer break, 17th because I liked the idea of 7.17.10, the numbers make a fact family (7+10=17...etc.). Yeah, you can't really take the teacher out of me :)

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? blue and brown (to be exact, aqua and chocolate maybe?)

What is something unique about your wedding? I'll have to come back to this one...too late for my little brain lol

Hi there,

Andrew and I are getting married on July 30, 2010 at the Grand Palladium, Riviera Maya.

We chose the summer because I am a teacher as well. It limits the options wink.gif

The date was just a process of elimination trying to plan around other things - birthdays, weddings, holidays etc...

I havent really chosen the colours yet but I am leaning toward aqua/turquoise for the chairs, table runners, gazebo decorations etc. I am afraid to add too much colour and having it look like a circus or something.

So...what's the status on your planning? I have obvioulsy picked the date and I have booked the TA, location, tentively booked the photographer. I found a picture of "the dress" but I havent ventured into a store to try any on...We dont have a wedding party- it is a 2nd marriage for both of us so our kids will be the BM and GM. I will have to consult them about their outfits once I pick a colour.

I admit I am a bit confused about the STD cards and invitations. I want to send the STD cards but then my TA wants to hear from people ASAP so doesnt that make the invitations kind of redundanthuh.gif How far ahead is your TA saying to book people?

Thanks for starting this thread. I want to know how "on track" I am with plans.

Wedding Destination: Los Cabos, Mexico (Dreams or Riu Palace .... huh.gif?)

What made you choose this destination?: Out of all the places we've visited, Cabo is a favourite!

Wedding Date: July 28, 2010 (or somewhere around there!)

What made you choose this date? Our photographer was booked the other weeks in July, and I am a teacher as well so my options for other months are limited.

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? Not yet

What is something unique about your wedding? It is so not planned yet :P

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: I am one of the most indecisive people ever which, I have found, sucks when planning a wedding!!!

Yay, I’m so excited you started this thread! Thanks Mandy!

Jannae and Ryan

Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen

What made you choose this destination?: I wanted to do it at an all inclusive, and wanted the water to be warm, and it is not on the Pacific side!! Chose the hotel based off of trip advisor reviews…

Wedding Date: July 6, 2010

What made you choose this date?: Kind of like you ladies—my grandmother drives a school bus, and two of our good friends are teachers. Also, it is near the holiday weekend, so everyone else will have an extra day off!

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they?: Magenta and Orange with touches of lime and turquoise. Love your colors Mandy!- mine may be a little circus like, but I’m ok with it!

What is something unique about your wedding?: Our nieces and nephews is our entire bridal party- and I told the oldest (7yrs) neice that she can pick the dresses- she is SO excited

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: Our save the dates are going out within the next couple of weeks, they have been such a project! They are the FI’s idea, we are sending ‘shot kits’ to everyone (personalized shot glasses, shots of tequila, and a STD card). We are not doing invites, just felt it wasn’t necessary. Accepting all RSVP’s on our website.

I have a TA lined up, I am using one from this site, and she seems great so far!! She has given me rates just recently, and said that they ‘price match’ which is comforting. She hasn’t given me a time limit for guests to book yet. I should probably ask.

I have my dress picked out online, but will not buy it until December or January. Have some lbs to lose!! Photographer is picked out (Elizabeth Medina) but I won’t have the $ for her downpayment until next month. I HOPE she is still available. WOW I’m in TOTAL limbo right now!

Angela: I totally feel your pain. I change my mind pretty much daily about things!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
