July 2010 Brides!!

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! I was originally an August bride but after finally deciding on our venue, we found our date was taken. So I'm now joining you July brides!

Name: Cassie

FI Name: Andrew

Wedding Destination: Rancho Palos Verdes, California

What made you choose this destination? Well I decided to stay in the US due to travel expenses for my very large immediate family and I am in love with Cali, so I thought it would be perfect for us and we found an amazing venue, so we're very happy with our choice.

Wedding Date: July 11, 2010

What made you choose this date? Like I said earlier, unfortunately we were late in the game here and our August 1 date was booked, so this was the closest available date.

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? clover green and watermelon pink

What is something unique about your wedding? hmm, can't think of anything too unique

Tell us anything else about yourself and/or your wedding: I actually joined the forum last February when we started looking at rings, but just finally got engaged the weekend before Christmas. So thankfully I had all that time to start getting lots of ideas or there's no way I could be putting this together so fast, I have so much left to do though!

Name: Anne

FI Name: Huy (Mike)

Wedding Destination:

Astina Chapel at Ayana Resort and Spa, Bali, Indonesia

What made you choose this destination?

It is heaven on earth! I am Indonesian but have never been to Bali except for our recent wedding site visit over Thanksgiving. Beautiful, serene and spiritual Bali is a perfect location for our wedding. Not to mention the best spa treatment in Asia!

Wedding Date: July 24, 2010

What made you choose this date?

The best weather in Bali happens to be in July and is also the peak season. Summer time is perfect for our friends who are still in college and siblings in high school to spend a few weeks in Asia.

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they?

Leafy green, blush peach, ivory/white, also hints of silver because my shoes are Jimmy Choo Epsies!

What is something unique about your wedding?

Nothing unique, but I'm trying to convince FI to bring his guitar to play during the reception. He is a wonderful songwriter and guitarist!

DONE:

Lea-Ann Belter dress finished and sent from Toronto!

FI's suit Kenneth Cole

STDs sent in November 2009

Formal invitations sent February 2010

Photog deposit

Makeup artist deposit

Venue deposit

Priest booking

Wedding bands

Buffet selection

Cake

Flowers

TO DO:

Wedding band engravings

Veil

Hair and makeup ideas (no clue yet)

Whip on bridesmaids to send me pics of their dresses (I'm letting my bridesmaids wear whatever they want as long as it's green, not sleeveless, goes well with dressy flats)

Procession songs

Programs

Table place cards

Reception entertainment

Cocktails and reception iPod playlist

Group airline fare deposit

Hotel booking deposit

Wedding favors: thinking about locally made fans or coffee/tea for foreigners, something different for local guests.

T-5 Months!! It is definitely a full time job to plan a wedding that is in the opposite time zone, opposite side of the world with no wedding planner. But the stress is worth it! As it will be perfect in the end. A bit of a control freak here.

Hello Ladies,

My name is Chrystal and I'm from Chicago.

FI's name is Jeff

We are getting married at The Excellence Resort and Spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

We were originally going to have a larger wedding here in IL but just a month ago and 6 months from our wedding day...we decided we needed to do what we really wanted to do and go away and get married.

After many hours spent researching destinations and resorts/hotels, pricing things out, we settled on the place that fit us best. I also read many wonderful reviews regarding Excellence resort and having never traveled anywhere like this before was in need of reassurance.

Our original wedding date was July 30th 2010 however we realized that we may not be able to keep that date on such short notice. I really hoped to keep it in July so was very happy when the wedding coordinator told me July 31st at 4pm was available for our ceremony!

I am revising my original colors to be more beach friendly so I haven't settled on them just yet. My MOH is helping me decide.

I'd have to say that the most unique thing about my wedding presently is that we decided to be brave and make changes to keep our wedding focused on what its really all about...our love and happiness.

Hi Ladies,

I don't know about you all but time is flying TOOO fast and I'm starting to freak out. I have a few checklists that I look at from time to time and I've been getting things done. However, I worry that there are things that I might forget to do? I want the day to be perfect and I hope it all comes together. How's it going with you all??

For those of you who are putting together OOT bags, I found some really cheap tote bags for 57 cents each. I'm not sure how long the sale will last so check it out soon if you're interested. It's the Nonwoven Econo tote. Convention Totes Store

Hi everyone!

My name Tracy

FI Name: George

Wedding Destination: Paradisus Palma Real

What made you choose this destination? I went there 4yrs ago with my family and thought it was one of the most beautiful resorts, ever!

Wedding Date: July 16, 2010

What made you choose this date? I'm a teacher so we needed a July date and we didn't want to get into August and risk a hurricane. We originally wanted July 24th for the one year anniversary of our engagement but it wasn't available so we did the 16th which is 1month after our 3yr anniversary.

Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? Ugh, i don't know...this is still being decided.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
