Any Catholic Ceremony Brides Out There??

Recommended Posts

I have done a search on this - but most of the threads are specific to a destination and we are not sure where we are going just yet.....

Right now, we have decided that we want to have our actual wedding on or near a beach or a cliff overlooking the beach. We discussed getting married at home and then having the ceremony away, but we really want to see if we can do it all away. Each country has it's own rules and regulations, but with that being said....

For those of you that have had or are going to have a destination Catholic Ceremony - where did you get married and whyhuh.gif??

I really wanted Alto Vista in Aruba - but it turns out they do not do weddings. <sigh> . We have been looking at a few places in Mexico, but the resorts seemed super expensive for our guests in this economy (for AI that is - 250 per person per night)

Anyway - any help or advice is mucho mucho appreciated!

smooches! smile03.gif

Hi there,

I am having a Catholic wedding in a church in La Romana, DR - its called altos de chavon. The church is located on a hilltop. It was hard to find exactly what I wanted but once I saw this place I knew it was it. I am not sure about other countries I only looked in DR at an option. I copied this from an old post online when I was searching for a ceremony location - maybe it will help you:

She also shares information on other Catholic churches available in La Romana and nearby areas:

- Santa Rosa de Lima -located right in front of the city's main park-

- San Antonio de Padua -in Buena Vista Norte, 5 minutes from the City of La Romana and approximately 15 minutes from St. Stanislaus Church in Altos de Chavòn.

- There is also another colourful church in the town Bayahibe -approx. 30 minutes from La Romana, overlooking a beautiful beach.

- In the city of Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic, there are various Catholic churches, many of them located in the beautiful colonial zone.

I am getting married in the gazebo at the Grand Palladium in Punta Cana and having a catholic ceremony. According to the diocese, they don't allow ceremonies on the beach, but, if you can find a gazebo that's pretty close, that is allowed (I found the logic funny too).

We are doing a Catholic Ceremony at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Puerto Vallarta...it is a big old Cathedral right in the middle of downtown. I'm excited to have the ceremony in the Church and then the reception on the beach at Dreams in PV!

Let me know if you have any questions

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
