Stressed out bride to be

Hey everyone, I am new to the site and was hoping I could get some feedback on a location for my wedding next spring. My fiance and I would like to go to Jamaica. We don't have a date set, but we're looking at April 17th or 24th 2010. We are most concerned about the money our guests will spend to get there and stay for 3-4 nights. If anybody knows of a nice place that's not too expensive, I would appreciate the advice. I will have about 40 guests with 6 kids (13-17). I have been looking at RIU Ochos Rios and also Beaches and Sandals Negril. I've also looked at HalfMoon and Moondance cliffs.

Any advice would help! Thanks everyone!

Hey Bree,

I found that picking the spot was THE hardest decision. After that I promise it gets easier; time consuming, but easier. I cannot advise on Jamaica as we had our wedding in the Dominican Republic, which I found to be cheaper, but just as beautiful. Good luck and congratulations!

Picking the place is really hard. I'm still trying to do that myself. Check out the Jamacia section of the forum...start a spreadsheet of the stuff each resort offers and make sure you estimate price in there. That way you can see which one offers the best stuff for the right price... just because it might be the cheapest on rooms, doesn't mean it would be the cheapest over all.

Good luck and happy planning :)

Once you've decided to have a destination wedding, picking where you want to go is so hard! But once you research and learn different countries' (or states') personalities and what they have to offer, it makes it a little easier. Once you do pick, sometimes it helps to go with a travel agent, especially if it's another country. Well congratulations and welcome to the forum!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
