I will definitely post my experience after the wedding.

So far so good...happy planning!
I will definitely look forward to your review because I am working with Almarie for my August 2010 wedding. So far, things have been great. What location are you getting married?

Hi Ladies!

I haven't been here in a loooong time! But I just saw this post about TWJ and wanted to give you my udate since getting married...

I used Tropical Weddings Jamaica for my Nov. 23/09 wedding. It was AMAZING! We were married at the Oceanfront Grande location. It was breathtaking...EXACTLY like the pictures!

We had the Always and Forever package. It was pricey...~$9500 USD...but honestly worth EVERY penny. Almarie took care of every single detail. I didn't have to worry about one thing. This package honestly includes everything you would possibly need or want. I actually had to add 10 more guests to the package because we had 36 people with us. So in total, with taxes, it cost us just over $10,000 USD. I know it sounds like a lot...but that was for 36 people, and included everything you would need for the entire wedding day...pre-wedding meeting, transportation, flowers/decorations, alcohol (served pretty much all day--even though it says only for 2hrs), h'ors dourves, steel drum band, dinner, dj, photographer, videographer...and so much more!!

For us, we weren't looking to save money by having a destination wedding, so we were fully prepared to pay quite a bit. Overall, it was still cheaper than an at-home wedding, but the stress level was literally zero!! And every memory I have of my wedding is perfect...from the very first email to Almarie, to the end of our amazing wedding night!!

I understand the hesitation to book with a company that is so far away...but I highly recommend TWJ. Almarie made the process a complete joy!!

Thanks for your message Scrouse, I am also using TWJ and Almarie has been amazing so far! I'm glad to hear she is just as good during the wedding as planning the wedding.

Did you give she a tip? I am curious to know if she just works for the buisness or if it is hers?

Just a heads up for brides, if you find your dream venue and it is NOT on her list ask about it! I did and now we are booked into the Aqueduct location on the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course. She is very flexible!

I did tip Almarie, as well as each of her staff (drivers, waiters, steel drum band, dj, etc.). I believe we gave Almarie $100--which was totally worth it considering the service she provided for the 8 months leading up to the wedding!! I think we gave each of the others between $20-$30 each. It added up to a couple hundred dollars in tips, but again--totally well-deserved!

As for pictures, I have to figure out how to post them and then I will try to put a few up! But in case I can't figure it out, I promise you they are EXACTLY like the pics on her website!! Those pictures are very accurate.

Wow! I didn't know that the Aqueduct was an option. About how much was the Aqueduct. We love that location.

The Aqueducts are expensive.

The rental fee alone for 2h at the Aqueduct is $2500 (paid to the gold course)

Then TWJ package is additional. What worked best for us was buying the lower end package and then adding things we wanted e.g. champagne, transportation, steel drum band etc. We are bringing our own Real Touch flowers and some decor.

It is so beautiful there though I think it will be worth it!

Jenn Blades, i noticed that you're also getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach. Are you using Tropical Weddings Jamaica to plan your whole wedding there or are you going somewhere else for it? I'm asking because I'm considering having the ceremony on a private beach somewhere and coming back to the Iberostar for dinner. Then I'm just not sure what to do after, if I don't rent out the restaurant. Any details you can give me would be appreciated!

Hey Debb,

My ceremony only will be planned by Almarie/TWJ and it will be at the Aqueducts and the reception dinner will be at Uncle Tony's at Iberostar Beach Hotel with the WC from the resort organizing it.

TWJ does offer private beach locations for weddings which look beautiful. I looked into that previously and she said the 'private beach' offered is completely private e.g. no one other than the wedding party will be on the beach for that time (unlike the beach at the hotel).

TWJ can also do a private reception afterwards but it is a per person charge so I decided based on costs to stay with the Beach restaurant as it is $800 regardless of the number of people and I likely will have a big group. I talked to Elizabeth Miranda, from the Beach, and she said it would be ok.

Let me know if you have other questions as I think I finally have everything fairly organized.

Jenn

I just starting corresponding with Almarie and am also thinking of taking the Always and Forever Package.  Like you, we didn't intend to save money by doing a destination wedding.  My fiance is Jamaican, so its much easier to fly 50 of us down, then get visas, tickets, accommodations for 50 Jamaicans.  Plus who can beat a Jamaican wedding?? I know you haven't been on here in a few years, but if you could offer any advise on what to expect, what to ask for, what wasn't worth getting etc... I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
