Place Cards - IDEAS NEEDED! Please!

Recommended Posts

I guess I wasn't thinking about this (not sure why) but it just came to me that I need some type of Place Cards for my reception. I am having 38 guests and their are 3 types of plated dinners being served (some are having fish vs. beef vs. kids meal.) I am going to have one long table with all my guests at it and I want to be sure that people know where to sit and make sure that Scott and I get to sit by the fun people (only slightly kidding!)

I want the place cards to be cute (of course) and I wouldn't mind making them myself but need to get to work on them since I have only 23 days until I will be on a plane to CABO! OMG! HELP with some ideas girls! grouphug.gif

Do you have a "theme" about your wedding? I can't remember. If I was going to do place cards, I was going to do small starfish on a string, that would also have their names on them, then the starfish could have become an Christmas ornament on their trees or something.

I can help you think of something, if you can remind me a little bit about your day.

We really don't have a theme....it is all my family who are attending the wedding. Our table for the reception is going to have black table linens with a fushia runner and the flowers are going to fushia lillys. We made the picture frame / candle centerpieces. We are also using orange as an accent color. I have been looking around the forum and I like the votive place card holders that someone said they got at michaels or some craft store....but ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

hmm, what about getting different color ribbon for each type of dinner they are having and just writing their name on the ribbon, that's what I am thinking of doing for my rehearsal...I think its simple and will look nice.

I am also going to use the starfish and tie a ribbon w/ a tag on it. I think the tag will have their name on it and I also thought about having the tags color coated based on their meal so it's easy for the waiters.

I like the idea of having it become a christmas ornament!! :)

Ok I'm going to give you the boring - no work version since that's what I ended up doing! hee hee hee...

From Michaels I bought:

Placecards which had a gold border

Gold calligraphy pens

gedrber daisy stickers (or red, orange and yellow gerbers - which are our flowers but then have many many other stickers that are nice and from photographs so they don't seem childish)

And I just calligraphies everyone's name on the outside and added a sticker to the left hand side. I'm going to write their table numbers on the inside but since you are only doing one table you could just write their meal on the inside instead. Again I know this is super uncreative and boring but just incase you didn't want a whole DIY project - this can work!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
