***Iberostar Laguna Azul Brides***

We were originally thinking about getting married at the Iberostar Varadero, but from the moment we saw pictures of the ILA, we KNEW that THIS was truly the place for us. We saw it as the perfect blend of standard Cuban resort bungalow architecture, and North American high rise hotel feel.

My fiancee fell in love with the pool (especially the waterfall and jacuzzi atop the middle rock island). And I can't wait to check out the disco. LOL!! What can I say? I love to dance hahaha.

We've only been members of this forum for a couple of days, but already it's been quite a bit of help.

We can't wait to see pictures of the first wedding there. (Yahimara, the ILA wedding coordinator, has said she'd send some to us.)

We also can't wait to start "the talks" with a travel agent, to really get the ball rolling.

If Disney weddings weren't so darn expensive, we might have done it there. LOVE Disney, the attractions, the atmosphere. Though I think for a wedding week, the more relaxed atmosphere of the beach might be more appropriate. And yes, the Laguna Azul is so gorgeous!!

Disney is gorgeous, and the weddings are absolutely beautiful, but the price is outrageous compared to the caribbean! It's about $5000 for the ceremony, plus about $100 a plate for the reception, and you're limited to 23 guests, and it's only $500 at ILA, that's 10x less! Almost blew my mind when I figured that out last night lol

I am so excited that I finally found a forum with brides that are getting married at ILA. Ive changed my mind so many time about the location but FINALLY this is the ONE!!

All your responses have been very helpful so far and have answered so many questions for me.

I was wondering there are a lot of brides getting married MAY 2010. How early did you speak with WC at the resort? and book a wedding date and time?

Im getting married MAY 2011 and not sure if now is to early to email and set a date?

Congrats on picking your resort! I think this is such a beautiful place and can't wait to get married there! We're getting married May 2010, and we booked the date with the WC in August, and booked our flights mid Sept. I think you have some time if you wanted to wait :-)

Congratulations!

I too am planning on getting married at ILA in May 2011 (early May). We have already started emailing the WC just to get general information. She is suppose to send us pictures once the first wedding has happened (should be soon, I believe it's end of November).

I know that prices for flights and stuff are not out before April 2010, so can't book that yet. As for booking the actual wedding date with the resort though, I'm not sure if we can do this before or if we need to wait for an official reservation.

Good luck with your planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
