Oh that's awesome.  I fly down on the April 9 -16.  Our wedding is the 13th.  Maybe we will see each other down there. I'm curious to know which resturant to book.  I have the Cuban one right now.

Hi all,

We have a few guests staying at other resorts and coming to the ILA the day of the wedding.  Has anyone else had guests do this?  Can they come to the resort for the full day?  Or just for the ceremony/reception?  Is the cost added to our wedding bill at the end of the trip?  I don't want our guests to be charged these fees.

Also, I'm having issues getting responses from Giselle.  I sent all of my paperwork in 3 months before the wedding, but is there anything else they require prior to us arriving?  A lot of resorts require a deposit.  Or is this it, I now just show up and get married!!

Thanks,

Michelle

Hey M and M!

Also getting married at Laguna Azul, but we do have a couple who are going to be staying at a different resort and coming over for the day. My travel agent found that there is a cost for them to come over (I believe it was about 85CUC per person) but that is for the whole day of the wedding, and dinner as well.  I'm sure they can add it to your bill if you ask (at least I would hope so!!).

Also having a hard time getting responses back from Giselle (busy lady I guess!).  I emailed her 17 days ago and just got an email back today!  Hope she gets back to you soon, it's a bit ridiculous.

Does anyone know the cost of the photographer that is on the resort? I had thought it was part of the wedding package but now I am doubting myself (and my travel agent is even worse at getting back to me with information - I am getting pretty nervous cuz the wedding is in less than a month!!).  Any info would be awesome.

Thanks ladies!

Hi Michelle,

We did have guests attend our wedding from another resort.  We discussed this ahead of time with the wedding coordinator and paid for them (50cuc per guest per day) and she then advised the front desk that they were taken care of.  They were allowed to stay as long as they liked and they attended the wedding, reception and dancing afterwards.   You can pay for this on your final tally.

As long as you've submitted the documents requested you are good to go.  There is no deposit required by this resort.

Happy Planning!

I am getting married at the ILA next month and have been advised that people have issues with bringing their own photographers to Cuba!!! Yikes!

Our photographer is a professional, but he is going as our friend, not a hired outsider. I really don't want him to be detained at the airport for having photography equipment. As well, my fiance is a photographer who will be bringing in his equipment to take landscape photos....

If anyone has any words of advice or experience, please advise, thanks!! I am getting super stressed about all this..

Also, what is the deal with car rental in Cuba? Is it safe? We wanted to rent a car for photos and drive it into Matanzas, and take photos there.

Any info greatly appreciated!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
