Cristina thank you for the review! Very helpful! I will also be bringing down paper lanterns, I'll be sure to ask Yahimara to return them.

Question for you or any other bride recently married at the palapas - did you have any concerns with mosquitos? We are considering bringing citronella candles or something to keep them away if required. Thoughts?

Thanks again!

Hello Ladies!

I am going to be a Iberostar Laguna Azul bride as well! I am getting married on July 13th, 2011. My fiancee and I were just going to use the photographer at the resort but are starting to reconsider. Does anyone have any recommendations for photographers that are not too costly? Or is there anyone else who is getting married at Laguna Azul this same week who would like to share the cost of their photographer?

Thanks a lot for you help!

Becca

Yes, I had heard about the mosquitos and was concerned myself.  I didn't notice them at all at the palapas though.  I did get a few bites one evening after visiting one of the a la cart restaurants, but don't worry about bites at the palapas.

Bring lots of string to hang your lanterns. I brought 3 rolls of fishing line and ran out!

Hey Ladies,

Got my photos just this evening!  I think I've made the album public so you girls should be able to see...  Unfortunately there's not a lot of the palapas set up, but hopefully should have some more when I get the rest of the shots from the photographer.

Just wanted to clarify  - since Cristina is writing using my name. A lot's of photographers experienced a problems either at the airport or at the resorts in 2010. It's not just me who knows this, some even don't go to Cuba anymore. 2011 seems to be better and hopefully they learned the lessons because every wedding planer knew about this issues and was sending brides to DR.

I personally travel to Cuba only once a year and shoot in only few resorts. I also work as a wedding planner and send brides to this resorts. Cristina asked me about this issue and I responded according to my knowledge. I know her good friend and knew I won't be able to shoot her wedding - since I already had a weddings booked at the other time. I wasted a lot of of my time answering her e-mails regarding this issue. I wish all the best for everybody who is getting married in Cuba and I also operate a website featuring work of other photographers.

I expect a moderator to remove a part of review where Cristina is talking about me using my company name and maybe give her a ban for spreading false information.

There is for sure nothing to be scared about - but if the photographer is going to Cuba 3 times a year - yes this may cause a problem.

Cristina your pics are gorgeous!!! I'm so excited!!!

I assume you brought those bouquets from home? they're fab!

Did you arrange the havana trip through the hotel? We are considering doing that in lieu of the trash the dress, I just can't bring myself to go in the ocean with my dress!

Thanks for posting :)

Hi Ladies,

Yes, as some of you have gathered, my lengthy review was taken down thanks to Anna Wasniewska from Cineart not liking what I had to say about her. Since my review was entirely accurate and reflective of my experience, BDW could only ask that I repost my same review under their new Resort Review section. I promise to re-post it as soon as the ILA is added to this new section. (I have requested that Admin add it.)

Linner, Rendee, M and M, BeccaB, and DeeBrideToBe - you'll find answers to all of your questions at the above link.

If there's anything else that I can help answer, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to respond.

DeeBrideToBe - Congrats on your decision to book Genevieve.  I have no doubt that you'll be beyond happy with her!

Happy Easter & wedding planning to the rest of you!

Cristina

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
