Should we......????

Recommended Posts

Should Erik and I do legal cermony in the O.C before I leave to Cabo? I leave to Cabo July 22, Erik leaves to Cabo July 26.

Or

Should we do the legal ceremony when we come back...so do it on the 30th.

We come back the 29th.

What do you girls thinkhuh.gif??

I think if you're going to do the legal ceremony in Cabo, you need to be clear on what documentation you need to satisfy the legal requirements, as well as what you would need to do once you got back to register your marriage (if you plan on doing that). From what I've read online, the legal requirements vary from state to state in Mexico. But I've also seen variances in postings on here from one bride to another, even when they're getting married in the same Mexican state.

I would say that if you get legally married in Cabo, you need to be prepared and ok with possibly having to do a legal ceremony here in the states in case something doesn't come through for the Mexican wedding in time to meet their requirements...

I'm thinking of doing it before I leave also.....

We decided not to do legal ceremony in Cabo due to bloodwork, all the paper work and worried about if it counts here in the US.

and it's easy to do it here while it was to much of a hassel to do it down there.

So we are thinking before the 22nd.

We'll have two ceremonies :)

One on the 20th of July (legal) and one on the 28th of July (cabo)

I just realized today that back in 2000 when Erik and I first meet it was on July 15 and we had offical date on the 28th....and I think we were boyfriend/girlfriend around this time....So it is perfect.

oh yeah, got my wedding band today. :) Going to take a pic and put it on a thread

I would do it on a day that meant something to you.. and it could just be beween you both.

We did it at home and no one knew- funny it was only $10 and you sign a piece of paper- never the less I dont want this to be my anniversary. It is noce to have all teh name change stuff done though.

On a side note did you know in Colorado you can marry your 1st cousin?sick.gif

My FI and I changed are minds as well and are now getting married in Chicago before we leave....We are not telling anyone. A friend of mine got married a few years back in Acapulco and has had issues back here in the states. She did express that it is not easy getting multiple copies of marriage licence like it would be if you were just married locally. I guess sometimes you need to present your marriage license and places will not accept photocopies. Basically, if you run out your screwed.

OH...we are now legally marrying on July 11, the date he actually proposed in Jamaica. We will still celebrate our anniversary on the date we married in Cancun.

Hello,

I am a WC in RM and it is a bit complicate to do all the paperwork and much more expensive to do the civil here in Mexico than in your country. I suggest that if it's possible for you to do it before in your country, it will be much easy & better!

I know Maye Cortinas since long time ago because we are both from Acapulco (I was living in Cabo for 5 years until 2000) and have not talk to her since then. I did not know she was in the wedding business until I found her in this site!! I am happy to know that she is great and that everybody is happy with her job!!! Please say hello to her from me!!!

Best Regards and congratulations!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
