Any Antigua brides out there?

Recommended Posts

We gave each couple /single person a beach bag as a gift and all the staff soon figured out who was in our group by our matching bags. When we would go for breakfast we would be given a run down of who had been in and who was doing what by the lady who ran the restaurant...we loved it ! It was our morning entertainment...lol

Many of the staff knew we were getting married just because of the bags, seems they had met everyone else in our group with theirs and we were the talk of the staff...the matching beach bag group !

Our guests loved their bags as they got other guests talking to them because of them...we were known as the Canadian wedding group...

My fiance and I are considering Antigua as our wedding destination and are having difficulty choosing a resort :/. I loved Sandals Antigua resort, but we are having single guests (i.e. his mom and brother) and I think it's a bit pricey for a single occupant. We are looking at the Verandah and would love to hear any feedback when it comes to cost for the wedding and any reception ideas. Thanks!

Hi Antigua08!

We are planning a destination wedding in July. I am having a difficult time choosing between The Verandah and St. John's Place. =/

I love  The Verandah because the water in that bay in the pictures is so gorgeous! How is the water at St. John's Place? Is it as turquoise and clear as that at  The Verandah? I havent seen any pictures that looked comparable.

Also, were you pleased with your wedding at St. John's Place?

Thank you so much!

I am not sure what the St. John's Place is, do you mean the St. James's Club by any chance ? The SJC is located on the SE side of the island. You are on the atlantic side of the island so the water is nice and blue on Coco's beach but seaweed does wash up quite a bit due to the currents. There's a wonderful trade wind that blows all the time so it keeps you cool in the warm sun.

The Mamora Bay beach is just that, a bay ! It is not that wonderful blue hue.It is very calm and hot ! All the watersports are located in the bay along with some food and drink services.

We were very happy with our wedding at the SJC back in 2008. I know they have done alot of upgrades to the resort and the wedding venue areas since we got married there. You now have more choices for ceremony sites and they give you some choice on decor and flowers.( I had a lovely 80's hand held bouquet ...lol)

They now have a wedding facebook page, check it out for some photos of wedding sites, decor, flowers etc...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
