Review: studioido.net, Studio I Do and Bryce Jenkinson

I wanted to share something with all of you brides this morning. I have been emailing photographers in the U.S. to find someone to travel to Mexico with us. I have simply been asking what kind of deal or package they could give us if we pay for travel. Most responses have been great, however this morning I received a response that well, made me so completely angry! I am so heated that I just had to post something because unprofessional people such as this should be exposed. I thought maybe I was overacting but I posted something on another thread and the ladies that responded all felt offended as well and thought I should post something about it.

This photographer comes across to me as someone that is only interested in supermodel weddings that mega bucks have been spent on. To basically ask a bride if she is attractive because he only wants pretty people for his portfolio is wrong. I never told him my budget, I simply asked him what kind of price he would charge if I covered travel. He responded with a surprisingly low number even though I was prepared to spend much more. But the offense part I have quoted below. Here is his response to me...

“My questions for you are....... Is this a shoe string budget wedding in Mexico? As a portfolio building experience I do not want to take on a job that reflects inexpensive or cheap, but in exotic locations. Second, what do you look like? Are you fit? Would you be an interesting attractive bride that my potential clients would want to see themselves as. How did you hear about us studio i do studioido wedding photography bryce jenkinson How many photographers are you currently shopping?â€

I have not responded yet. I am trying to find the words that I want to say without calling him names.

At the very least, I wanted to put this out there, I think this is a vendor to avoid. Who would want a jerk like this around on the happiest day of there life?

If anyone has any suggestions on a response I am happy to hear! Also, MODâ€s, I wasnâ€t sure where to post this, please move it if I put this in the wrong place.

Thanks!

OMG how unprofessional is right!!!!

You are definitely not over reacting. I can't even believe he would ask you those things.... wow... I'm shocked. I don't even know what I would say if I got that email. I would be livid.

Wow - you are not overreacting. Someone should tell him that a photographer that can make an average looking woman (ie. 99% of us) look like a superstar on her wedding day is what separates the professionals from the imposters and that's what he should have in his portfolio. Of course, I'm betting he doesn't have the talent to do that. I can't believe he thought it was ok that ask that!!

But I do think it's important to warn other brides who may contact him. Sorry that happened to you!
I absolutely agree! Thanks for letting us know. I hope everyone will avoid this photographer. He truly sound like a piece of work.smile27.gif

SERIOUSLY!! What is wrong with this person!!!!!!!

Number one- it is outright insulting to discuss or insinuate you have a "shoe string budget" or a "cheap" wedding!!! when you have not even gone into details on that yet and asked a simple question.

Number two- I am pretty sure not all brides are fit. when I look at a photogs work I relate more with photographs that take pictures of real people , Then I judge on that.

Anyone can take pictures of an expensive skinny girl wedding and have them look not half bad. !!

This person is an A**!

Unbelievable Steph! I cannot believe someone who considers himself a "professional" would behave so unprofessionally to a potential client! Terrible business! Every bride is beautiful in her own way and what he asked you was completely rude and apalling. I'm fairly certain that I would either NOT even dignify his questions with a response or I would tell him in the most straightforward and polite way possible that I am no longer interested in his services has I would not be comfortable hiring someone so shallow. Wtf does your budget matter? He is beyond rude to even ask or hint that the wedding would be "cheap". If he wants to shoot an expensive wedding to build up his portfolio, then maybe he should pay for it! OMG I am so livid about this! censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif censored.gif

That is pretty ridiculous. If he is just building his porfolio he definitely does not have the reputation behind him to pick and choose weddings (not that any pro photographer has the right to ask any of that!). I can't imagine many brides wanting to go with a photographer that has an attitude like that, big budget or not!

I would definitely write him back with a piece of my mind. What a jerk!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
