travel wedding and gifts?

Recommended Posts

I think one way to not make them feel like they have to, is including a sentence or two on your website (if you have one) that says , "we are more concerned with your presence than your presents", but if they want to still get a gift, then I say happy shopping!

I felt the same way at first and didn't want to make a registry - then my MOH told me she would do it for us if we didn't :).. Seriously though, what she said and I guess is true - people are going to get you gifts regardless (esp for a shower or people who can't make it) and wouldn't you rather get things you like than random stuff that you might not even like or want (and usually can't even exchange easily)..

I know some people have done honeymoon registries - I still don't know how I feel about that but it's a thought.. You can register for non-traditional things to - we had some random things on Amazon..

My fiancee and I already had everything we needed because we've lived on our own for quite some time, but we went ahead and registered for things to replace our older things. A new set of pots and pans, new table linens, new coffee machine, new serving dishes, stuff like that. We already have those things, but why not get really nice things :)

I have read many brides who feel this way, and I was one of them. We weren't going to put anything together, but my Mom kept saying well people are going to get you something (especially the people that don't go to our DW) and don't you want to get something you need/want? So we put together our honeymoon registry with Traveler's Joy and a portion of the funds raised through our website will go to Breast Cancer Research Foundation (I posted a thread on this already) - this way they might be still getting us something, but we are also giving back a little too.

And on our website, we did put "your presence is gift enough...that being said, we have had requests for a gift registry" or something to that nature - I copied if from another bride on here

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
