Punta Cana Resort on a budget???

Recommended Posts

Hey Erin! We flew from Edmonton and Winnipeg, staying at the Paradisus Punta Cana for approximatly $1700/person (for double occupancy). We went in June, I'm sure prices vary during the year. But this resort is worth the money (I thought it was cheap for EVERYTHING we got!!), everything about this resort is fantastic, and our wedding was AMAZING!

OH also, we spend our second week, our "honeymoon" at the Dreams resort. In my eyes Dreams does not even compare to Paradisus Punta Cana, its much smaller, more children EVERYWHERE and the a la carts are nothing overly special. The Paradisus Punta Cana just has that WOW effect!

Thanks everyone!

We looked into majectic Colonial and it's around $2000pp. I feel WAY too bad asking people to pay that. Unfortunately the only week we can go is mid-feb so we are stuck with the high prices.

I'm going to look into a couple of those other resorts suggested....

Hi fellow Torontonian....I also wanted to book for February at the Majestic Colonial, but couldn't believe the price. I will not make my guests pay that amount to come to my wedding. February is prime time, so is March...So we decided to get married end of April, which is a nice time to travel. It's still cold and miserable here....We went with the Grand Palladium Bavaro, the price was amazing considering what we heard from the other resorts. I actually went and put money down on it today. A few friends of mine have been to the resort and loved it.....

Good luck...let me know what you come up with!!!

Erin - I would suggest going to a resort that has more than one hotel on it - that way if you wanna stay at a more upscale one you can, while if your guests want to save money, they can stay at a different hotel in the same complex so you can still all be in the same place. I know the Barcelo has a few in one - they have Barcelo Caribe, Barcelo Palace, Barcelo Golf, Barcelo Palace Delux (they are all together and range in prices) I know the Grand Palladium has the same type of thing as well!! Good luck!! I have stayed at both of those places, if you would like pics or help let me know! :)

Hi Erin!!

We are from Winnipeg, and thinking of going to Punta Feb 2011, we originally thought of going in April as it is a little less expensive, however the charters only run until end of March, so you will have to add the cost of a flight to major gateway city, T.O or Vancouver ( if you are from canada) you may not be saving that much in the end...you just have to do your research.

so for now we are planning for Feb 2011, probably Barcelo Bavero Palace Deluxe, as your guests can opt to stay at one of the other Barcelo resorts that is within their price range, and we will be in the nice resort with a jacuzzi on our patio! lol

Keep me posted on what you decide!!

Thanks and Congrats!

I'm happy to read this! I was originally a Dreams los cabos bride (switched due to swine flu) and I was worried that Paradisus may not measure for my guests. From the sound of it, I will be totally impressed! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

OK, I'm kinda like you in the way that price was VERY important, it didn't have to be 5 star etc. I found that the popular resorts to get married in were way to expensive to ask my guests to pay (especially in Jan/Feb high season) I ended up picking Sirenis Tropica (still a 4+ star)l, there is one other bride that I know of on this form that is getting married there too... you should check it out...

I figured we could upgrade for our honeymoon week to one of the more expensive ones. We are honeymooning at Dreams Punta Cana.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
