Still have yet to make a decision.....Dreams or Riu?!

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

Well, it's been almost a year now that we've been engaged and we are still planning on July 15, 2010 but have yet to make a final decision and actually book something at a resort.

We know we want Cabo and we have our photographer lined up but other than that, we are still being soooo indecisive!

I am wondering if Dreams or Riu will let you swap things in their packages or give credits, etc.

For example, the Dreams Ultimate package includes hair and makeup however, I want to go to Suzanne Morel. So...it doesn't make sense to pay for it in the package and then not actually receive the service. Do you think Dreams would be willing to eliminate that and instead give something like chair ribbons or somethinghuh.gif

Thanks for any responses! I really hope to make this decision very soon. Our photographer is actually heading to Cabo and the Riu in about a week to shoot another DW so I am hoping that seeing those pictures will help.

Thanks again!

Ange

I feel like I don't think I'd be disappointed by Dreams either ........

We've stayed at the Riu Palace before so I definitely know I like it and it's a better price than Dreams...which I feel will influence my guests' decisions to come.

I know everyone says it our day, do what WE want but I am finding that so hard!!!

Thanks Erika! It's good to know that if anything I can switch the services at Dreams.

Angela we had the same issue as you in the beginning. We initially chose the Riu because it was SO much cheaper for our guests (like $600 cheaper per person...$1200 per couple. That's a LOT if you ask me!). But then we had some issues with our travel plans last month and re-priced things and Dreams came out at the same price we had before for the Riu, so we switched. In my opinion, Dreams weddings are nicer. Riu is a great, fun resort though! Your guests will love either...I would pay more attention to where you want your wedding to be. I think Dreams is much more open about bringing in outside vendors as well. I'm not using any package at Dreams...I'm bringing in everything on my own (flowers, cupcakes, furniture rental, hair stylist). I think the Riu wouldn't have let me do that. So it's totally dependent on what you want your wedding to look like really!

Good luck - you really can't go wrong with either choice. Cabo is amazing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
