Hi...I'm planning a wedding in Punta Cana from Calgary for January 2011! I'm trying to narrow down resorts, I feel like I might just be a little bit behind!

I can't believe how many people are 'secretly' getting married before they go. I saw some prices of $550 + $300 USD. Wow...those prices are shocking! We're now going to way out our options.... Thanks!

Hey ladies! I'm also an Alberta bride!! We are leaning towards getting married here first and then doing just a symbolic wedding in Punta Cana. What a great idea to keep it quiet! Our wedding will be the third week or March 2011 at the Majestic Colonial. Our TA is in the process of booking the wedding date now so hopefully everything goes smoothly. Good luck with the planning everyone!

Heya ladies!

Fiancee and I are in Calgary and we are getting married in less than 6 months in DR. We chose the Majestic Elegance.

As previous posters have suggested, we are doing the legal paperwork in Calgary first to save some $$$.

Good luck with your planning!

hey everyone, so after getting a price list and deciding on a resort, it turns out that the airline will NOT fly out of Saskatoon to Punta Cana on the dates we need to travel. Actually, they won't even fly after March 1st! We live in Alberta but 75% of the guests live in Saskatoon. Sooo we either will have to drive everyone to Edmonton (20-30 people!) or change our location altogether. We are absolutely not impressed with our travel agent.... I may not get to join you in Punta Cana after all!!! sad.gif I'll keep you updated.

i live in calgary and i got married at the bahia principe bavaro in may 2009

it was $1600 for the all inclusive hotel package and flight from toronto. but we had to pay another $400 to fly from calgary to toronto as there are no direct flights from calgary in may

we also got legally married in calgary to avoid the hassle. originally we were getting married in mexico where they require blood tests so no way we were doing that. the only difference was you pretend to sign the marriage document in punta cana. plus the renewal of vows or symbolic ceremony was cheaper than the legal ceremony

Hi

I am from Calgary and I am looking at Majestic Colonial for May 2011~!

The only thing that I am weary of is that the flight leaves Calgary (on the way to Punta Cana) at 12:40 at night and then there is a layover from Toronto to Punta Cana that same morning. There are children travelling to the wedding, is this too much to ask of people?

Hey Alberta Brides!

I just got my January 2011 flights confirmed from both Edmonton and Calgary and my TA got us direct flights and the price confirmations. So it is possible!! We are also doing the symbolic ceremony, and have that date booked as well by my TA.

Good luck and happy May long weekend!

That is awesome news!! Which resort are you getting married at? Were the prices good now(because its so early)? I'm waiting to get some prices too and can't wait to see what they have to offer!! Which day are you getting married?? I don't have my date booked yet...soon, I hope! :)

Hi ladies!

I'm so glad I found this thread - we're currently waiting to hear back from our TA about prices for Dreams Palm Beach and Majestic Colonial for April/May 2011.

I noticed that many of you are getting 'secretly' married here first, which we're planning to do as well. Just wondering, are you still having a judge perform the ceremony at the hotel or having a symbolic ceremony? Are you concerned about your guests knowing that it's symbolic?

We're leaning towards doing a symbolic ceremony and if guests ask we'll be honest. I mean, if we consider that our 'real' wedding it shouldn't matter right? Just wondered what other couples were doing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
