freaking out... Did I choose the right dress? Too poofy?!

Recommended Posts

I really like it! I got a maggie too and was worried about the poof too...I'm not gonna wear a poofy underskirt though so its not as big. They always try to make it huge on the model!

I want to first say congratualations and happy planning. Second that dress is amazing I am getting married in Jamaica and I have a some what poofy dress as well and I don't mind because when I put the dress on I new that it was the dress. If you get that feeling when you put that dress on then your problem and the answer to all your questions should be solved. It's how the dress makes you feel. I hope you go with your choice above. Good luck

Beautiful dress and not too poofy, are you unsure because you are still looking at other dresses or because you are really not sure if it is the ONE.

If it's just that you are looking at other dresses then don't, problem solved.

If you are really not comfortable in the dress and you are really unsure that it's not the one, then maybe you should try on other dresses to compare.

What ever you decide I am should you will make the right decsion in the end.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

I feel so much better!!! I purchased this dress and its paid in full! I think the biggest thing was I also tried on the Ireland dress way more beachy and flowy and everyone in the store was freaking out and loving it and I didnt like it, granted it was 2 sizes too small and I couldnt get the full picture. But I did keep going back to this Harriet dress and I loved it!!! I think the only weird thing about it is the material its an organza like but very different almost a unique tiny box pattern up close.

But Im going to see about the taking a layer of toile(sp?) out underneath and not wear that darn poofy petty coat underneath it adds way too much. I also ordered my veil which they had in stock but Im wondering if the veil is part of the issue Im having!!

thanks everyone for your support!!!! I love this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aww Sweetie!! It's a beautiful dress! And i don't think it's too poofy at all!! I would have to agree with the other girls. It's your wedding, and you should wear whatever you want to wear! There are tons of dresses out there. But, when you know it's the dress, you can definitely feel it as soon as you have it on. I think being drawn to this same dress every time, is a sign..

I think the dress is absolutely gorgeous and not poofy at all. I had intentions of getting a dress that was very beachy, flowy, light material, etc...and ended up with the exact opposite. My dress is very poofy...way more than yours, and it was just what looked right on me. Sometimes you have an idea in your head of what you want, but what looks good on you might be different. What issues are you having with your veil? Are you not sure that you want a veil?

Ooh! It's stunning....and not poofy at all, if you want to know the truth! I think it's chic and sophisticated, and is completely DW-appropriate!

Your situation of being unsure is like something I went through. I went from thinking that I had to have a clean and simple "beach-y" dress just because I am getting married in Jamaica, which pretty much meant nothing too frilly or princessey. But then after we bought my first dress (which was just a very simple strapless a-line), I had a major change of heart after being inspired by some of the other BDW members that had more traditional "bigger" dresses, and now I want to wear what I've envisioned myself in all along since I was just a kid -- I want a full skirt (probably with some kind of pick-ups), and a real train, not to mention a chapel-length veil, reaching all the way down to the ground! Maybe that's why I am going to be a 3 dress bride though: I will still be wearing the 1st dress (after it's shortened to tea length) for my AHR, my 2nd dress was bought specifically to do a TTD (for $75 on eBay), and now I just want to lose a little extra weight before I purchase the 3rd gown, which I'll be wearing for the ceremony (and for our 1st dance at our AHR)!

The bottom line is you have to do what feels right to you; if you want a poofy dress, WEAR ONE! If you love a dress that hugs your curves, WEAR ONE! And if you love the dress you showed us (which is the best of both worlds, in my opinion), then go for it and WEAR IT! You'll hear this a million, zillion times but, IT'S YOUR SPECIAL DAY! Do what makes you feel like the most beautiful bride in the world...

Good luck wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
