Any Casa de Campo Brides Out There?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

We a getting married at Casa de Campo in La Romana in January. I haven't seen much about this location on here but itâ€s magnificent! The wc are slow as they are everywhere in DR it seems. Hoping to hear from others considering this location or have had a wedding there or planning one there.

Ah, Casa de Campo was recommended to us by some friends who have been there and it sounds like it is absolutely spectacular. I haven't been there, nor do I know much else about it - but I am sure your DW is going to be off the charts there! Love the DR!!

I have actually been in touch with Nikki regarding her wedding.. she couldnt give me much information, and kept directing me directly to the wedding coordinator at CDC, but they are soooo slow over there.. CDC is the ultimate in DR for a wedding.. but it is expensive.. if you have a small wedding, its not so bad, but we're expecting over 100 guests, so dont think it will be able to happen there! =(

I went to Casa de Campo Last July for my close friends wedding, I don't have details but I will pass on what I know :)

The grounds are beautiful, private and safe, also extremely immense!! they will provide a golf cart to get around!!! You will need it...

The pools are all within room and dining distance, the beach is far!! you have to drive your golf cart atleast 15 minutes to get to the beach, you will need a map the first two days probably. The beach is beautiful but beware of some plants in the water they sting and you will not be happy (sorry forgot the name) We started wearing our flip flops and water shoes in the water.

The Restaurants are all great but they're All-Inclusive is called European All-Inclusive meaning they only allow you 1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch & 1 Dinner, the only way you can have seconds is by eating at their buffets I think there is only 1 of those, so for guest that would like to go to two different restaurants a dinner time for example they will get charged for 1 at the time of check out, so please keep that in mind.

The hotel will provide a bus to take your guest from the resort to Altos De Chavon which is like 15 minutes away since no golf carts are allowed in that area.

The Ceremony was held at Altos de Chavon, Amazing!! Be careful with heels since the whole place is pure cobblestone, it may be difficult to walk in, The church is not large, it gets quite hot and they only have two or three fans mounted on the wall, there is a fountain right in the middle after entering the church so for the procession if the bridesmaids and groomsmen are walking in together, they will have to separate for a brief moment, I would suggest bringing paper fans for your guests, the Priest is sooooo strict OMG!!, Warn your bridal party or anyone that will go up to read or say a passage that they will not allow them to go up at the Altar if they're not dressed appropriately (nothing revealing).

The Reception was held at one of the mansions on the other side of the resort, which is truly breathtaking but I guess that part is up to the wedding coordinator, I don't know how that works, all in all Casa de Campo is in a class of its own, your guest will surely remember your wedding.

If I can help with anything else let me know

Good Luck and Congratulations

wow thank you so much ladies! I truly appreciate the feedback and input. We are having a very small wedding - 20 guests if that. That church is what really sold me! The wc's are super super slow but I found this to be consistent with all the resorts I received quotes from. There was even confusion on whether or not I was booked for my date at one point. I don’t' expect that to be the last of the miscommunication! It is a little pricy - I am going to try and stick to my budget as best I can and try not to go overboard :) Thank you thank you thank you for sharing.

Hey bearbunny, it is silly but, you will see for yourself, this priest can be very intimidating, I'm sure a strapless dress that will have a lady's breast toppling over would be a definete no, lol, but I guess you would have to decide?? sad.gif I would say go with the flow but be warned!! :) I hope i'm not confusing you??

Is it a Catholic church? If so, then your shoulders have to be covered. Its like that at most any Catholic church. So, just keep that in mind as a bride or BM. You may need to have pashminas for the BM's if their dresses don't cover the shoulders.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
