holy, this thing is going to add up. I'm not sure who suggested it , but candles, sand and shells seem like a good choice for centrepieces. I am glad to see that the green orchids are available, i love those, although i won't be ordering the centrepice for 90 bucks, but a single orchid for the bouttonniers (sp?) would look nice. I am interested to know if we can order from off site.

I emailed Sun Gold Photography (based in Negril) just to see about working with the Riu...here's what they sent me:

 

Hello Heidi and Reggie,

 

Congratulations on your up coming wedding. Yes we have photographed at RIU Ocho Rios. We just book in for the day of the wedding, the last wedding we photographed there, the "Hotel Photographer" was very rude and his behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. The Bride and all 65 guest were not happy about it, and lodged a complaint. I have been so busy, but I am also lodging a complaint, I did so the day after the wedding and the Hotel General Manager was very understanding and agreed with us that the Hotel Photographer (I believe his name was Micheal) was totally out of line. So, I'm not sure what is up with RIU, but as I said we ask our clients to pay for a nights stay, and your time of the year is very reasonable. I once got it for 190.00 per couple (it was booked during a special) which is less than our Travel Fee to Ocho Rios. If you are booking us into the Hotel the travel fee is only 50.00 for fuel.

 

I also, heard that if your not booking us into the Hotel, they are now trying to implement a vendors fee, which I think was 100.00, but do not quote me. Obviously they are aware that something needs to be done about their policies, and are trying to keep everyone happy.

I wish I chose the Riu! Beaches won't even send me pics or the photographers name or contact so they can show me their work themselves. And no 3rd party vendors are allowed in Beaches. There is no fees to pay to allow it. Very sad. :-(

 

That is great for you guys though! Photos are the most important thing (after dress), in my opinoin anyway.

Carly, It's still more than 9 months away...is there any way you could change it to the RIU? That would be so fun if we were both there at the same time!

I don't think so, my std's are already out and guests already began booking. I think we would lose too much money transferring it, in addition to costing the peeps that booked already. I need to just get over it and stop comparing to the Riu!

plus, I'm sure it doesn't help that there's a group of us constantly posting our info! don't worry Carly - Beachers looks GREAT and I"m sure you'll have a FABULOUS time there! I'm going to go look for some pics, etc for your resort. I'm sure it'll make you feel betteR!!!!!!

Awww, thanks Heidi. I would be grateful for whatever you can find. the pics on the website are not great at all. there are 12 pics of couples and they are all cheesy poses. I looked on trip advisor (I signed up to get a notice anytime a new review went on), but there aren't that many weddings on there! I even emailed a few peeps and no one emails me back! I know it will be fine, it is just, can I let it go until them?! hahahahaa. I am too anal and want to know everyything NOW, when I am sure that the end result will be fine.

Carly, It must be hard b/c we're all talking about RIU all the time, but I'm sure you will have a great wedding. My FI went to a wedding at the Sandals in Ocho Rios and I think that is part of the Beaches He said it was awesome. My nephew is mad I didn't chose Beaches b/c isn't that the one with the huge waterslide?
