I am trying to decide between a Jan. 2011 wedding or May 2011 wedding in the Tulum area. The prices are better in May, but it seems that it will be very humid. January will have less chances of rain, but is it too cold I want my guests and my fiance and I to be comfortable!! What do you think? I would love opinions about weather during these times...

We just got married in June near Playa del Carmen and it was hot and humid! But, it looks like the weather doesn't change too much during the year. We had a blast but it was hot for sure. Check weather.com for weather in Jan vs. May although I don't think it has humidity. Good luck planning!

we got married in May and the weather was great actually. A nice cool breeze every day. We decided not get married during high season because it was a LOT more expensive for our guests

We got married in May too, and while it was hot, I didn't notice humidity. We were in Playa del Carmen and there was a lovely breeze from the ocean.

It is VERY windy in Tulum and I believe that to be the case all year round. So while it might still be humid in May, you will also get a significant breeze to cool things down. In thinking about January, were you considering getting married around the holidays or later in the month? If you are flexible with months, perhaps Feb or March could proove to be more economical, warmer than Jan but not as humid as May.

Similar to Blkatz, cost for our guests guided our decision to choose to get hitched in the low season.

Cold in Mexico? Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think it is cold in January in the Riviera Maya - I vote January!

We couldn't decide either between January and May / June. In the end we picked January for economics as it was the cheapest of the two rates quoted for us. Also, coming from the land of ice and snow, it was a great way to break up winter :) The only downside were friends who are still in school can't get January off.

I would also pick January as you get to run from the winter but you also get pricing for January as part of the 2010/2011 season, while the pricing for May would come with the 2011/2012 travel season.

I was in Playa Del Carmen at The Royal last year on May 15th and it was super comfortable, not too hot and I didn't notice any humidity. Just my 2 cents :)
