Do you really need a coordinator for St. John wedding?

I want to do a simple wedding in St. John. I picked a photographer and know what flower shop I want to use...still trying to decide on an officiant. Would I really need to pay a coordinator too?

I would say if you're going for simple and you don't have a big guest list, then do it yourself and save some money! It's really all about what you're comfortable with. I chose to have a WC because we'll have about 35-40 people and wanted her island expertise as well. But again, it's all about what you're comfortable doing.

Hi - I am in the same boat and also don't have a planner. We have booked the rooms and are close to booking the restaurant, still working on the photographer and flowers. I would like to have a planner but my fiance thinks it's unnecessary. How many guests will you have? I think that will be the difference in needing a planner or not. I'm worried that I'm going to be a spaz when we get down there (we have 58 guests). Well, this doesn't answer your question at all but you've made me feel better knowing I'm not the only one! I can give you the specifics of what we are doing if you want! I would love to hear about your plans.

I think there will be about 15 people. I have just started looking into things and how much they cost...we don't even have a firm date yet. I do know that I want Greer Rivera to do the photography. We probably won't get a cake so I still need to find an officiant and flowers. What vendors have you found?

I did email Island Bliss and found out it was $100 more for a wedding on St. John.

I'm a St. T bride also using Janelle/Island Bliss and she's been fabulous so far. I'm using her al la carte, officiant and beach site fee only, I won't have her there the day of the wedding as an on site coordinator. I'm expecting about 25 people and I'm just going to manage everything myself.

Island wedding service is a al la carte wedding coordinating site also, you might try them for vendors in the USVI - they have links to people they recommend.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
