Lisa - find another place or another person - the gel shouldn't be coming off!

when I moved to my new home I asked all my facebook friends in town for the best place to go for gels - personal reccomendation is the best way to go- way better than where I was going for the last 6 years.

Did you have the UV Gel where they stick it under the lamp? I think that works better.

This was briefly mentioned before.. but all the ladies that have had gel nails, do they cause a lot of damage when you remove them (gel only and no tips)? I have had acrylic in the past and my nails are always destroyed right after removing the acrylic nails with tips.

Lisaloo... that sucks about your nails especially since they look so nice initially. Hope it gets resolved for you =)

The thing about real gel nails is that you can't actually remove them, you can only file them down and let them grow out on their own. I guess you could try to peel them off, and I'd imagine that would damage your nail.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll be ok! I'm bringing the FI and he's SO good at that kinda thing, he'll support me or speak up for me! lol

I did have the UV gel nails done. I think the problem is with the thickness as someone mentioned before. They do seem kinda thin on the sides.

Oh I'll be finding another place for sure. I have one in mind where I get other esthetics done and i didn't know they did gel nails there. I guess I never thought to ask.

Hey Lisa! I am thinking of getting gel nails too! I think the French tip looks so nice, but they always chip for me the day after my mani. Gel nails are *supposed to last longer than one week!! Let us know how it goes...it's always nice to have the FI for back-up when complaining.

I have a question ladies :) Great topic btw, I've always wondered about gel vs. acrylic and whether it was worth it.

I love the look of my nails grown out, but I always have ONE break just as they're grown to the perfect length! Very annoying... So I was thinking about gel nails, but not really long, just a nice length. Anyway, I'm a computer/network tech. Are they going to be a pain when I'm trying to take a computer apart or while I'm typing? My regular nails don't bother me, they click a little when I type, but that's it.

Gel Nails vs. Acrylic are 100% worth it! Gels look natural, don't turn yellow, are stronger and sturdier. i used to work with computers a lot and never had a problem with them, but I keep my natural and fake nails pretty short

Gels are definitely the way to go, but yes, you have to be sure the person knows what they are doing. I wear them all the time -- they are strong, shiny and the manicure lasts 2-3 weeks, and I am hard on my nails. I'd suggest "pink and whites" as opposed to the regular french. It's a softer prettier look (I think) than the traditional french....but that's my opinion :)

They definitely should not peel off! I'm a biter and a chewer, and it feels like I'd break a tooth if I started to chew or bite.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
