Need help with Reception Venues

I need some help with where to have our reception on Maui. I'm trying to keep the cost under $90 per person. The main thing is that I want to have a place where we can have a first dance as well as for other people to dance. I contacted the Plantation House but you have to book a specific room to get the dance floor and the cost is much more than I want to spend. I was looking at a Dinner cruise with Maui Princess as they have a band and a dance floor on the ship but my Fiancé doesn't like that idea. We'll be staying in Ka'anapali so I would like something in the Lahaina / Ka'anapali area and not in Kihei or Wailea. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where we can go? Any information / feedback will be appreciated.

Not sure of the prices but check out The Sea House @ Napili Kai, or The Hula Grill. There's Mama's Fish House too but I'm not sure how they'd split that up with a private area for dancing....?? Leilani's (upstairs) in Whaler's Village.

Amanda,

I'm new to this forum and I noticed that you were looking into an October wedding in Maui. I was looking into an Oct/2010 wedding as well and really not sure where to begin. Hope you don't mind me asking but.... What made you decide on staying in Ka'anapali? Have you booked a hotel already? Are you using a Wedding Planning company?

Just looking through the forum it looks like most people are using wedding planning companies. I noticed that people were using (A Dream Wedding Maui Style), (Makena Weddings), and (A Paradise Dream Wedding). All of them seem to have been very happy with their choices. Most brides seemed to have gone with Maui Wedding Cakes also. I'm hoping by keeping in touch with you we would have a better grasp at organizing all of this information! :)

I think I may hve found the place. Its Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Has anyone eaten here before? They have a private dining room that we can have for the whole night. Its big enough for our group that when we are done eating we can move one of the tables to the side and make a small area to have a few dances. The set menu prices are pretty reasonable too.

I love Ruth's Chris. I worked at the one in Denver (now closed) so my fiance and I always try to eat there when we visit other cities. We've never been disappointed. We did go the the Ruth's Chris in Lahaina and really enjoyed it. It's beautiful inside and service was excellent. One really cool thing about that restaurant is that they include local cuisine and Hawaiian influences in their menu. The food was great.

I think it would be a wonderful choice for your reception. We can't decide if we're going to have our rehearsal dinner there or the Old Lahaina Luau.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
