Wedding Dress Shopping Today!! (By myself!)

Recommended Posts

So after having a freakout yesterday that I couldn't figure out the reason for, FI and I finally figured out that I was freaking out that I don't have my dress yet, which of course leads to a freakout about how we are going to pay for the dress.

So today's the day! I am leaving at 3:30 for an "appointment" and going to RK Bridal and then David's Bridal.

I'm sort of excited, but SUPER nervous!

Good luck, I went on my first dress shopping trip on Monday all alone. It was great. You will like some, hate others and love some. If you don't like any oh well dont stress it is only your first trip. After the first trip you get a better understandking of what looks good and what you are looking for so it created a whole net internet session of dresses I loved that I didn't expect to be looking for. Have fun and post pics of some of the dresses. wink.gif

Oh and forgot to say that there are some super great deals out there on dresses. Most of them at David's Bridal are in the range from $300-$600 plus there is a huge sale going on for $100 off. But they have them all the time so don't feel pressured in buying right now if it isn't a good time. wink.gif

Hi! How did your day go?? Hope it was a success!

I went to RK & David's a while back but I need to go again. I was a little disappointed when I went to RK b/c the sort of straight/sheath style I wanted just didn't look right on me & the consultant told me that I was looking for the wrong dress style (hips are too big I guess). I appreciated her honesty but it made me a little depressed. sad.gif I was also in a bit of sticker shock at RK & I think the combo sort of turned me off looking for a while. We did find some dresses that looked good & weren't ridiculously priced so I just need to get over it & get out there again.

Karen, I had the same experience the first time I went dress shopping too. Everything I put on that I liked looked HORRIBLE. I didn't try again until last week, a good 5 months later. Don't get discouraged the right dress IS out there.

So yes, I'm back (sorry so long to post, work backed up while I was out). I tried on about 50 dresses, including the Dessy Sandals dresses, which were awful on me. At the end of the day it was between two dresses, one of which was the one I fell in love with a few weeks ago.

In the end I ended up following my gut and getting this dress, even thought it was $500 more expensive sad.gif

Sorry its sooo fuzzy. I forgot a camera and was left with just my Blackberry. Here it is from the website:

Also got a veil while I was there (overpriced I know, but 12 months same as cash makes it like free for 11 months!) it is like the one below, but all white everywhere!

I love love love that dress! So glad you followed your gut & got the one you love!

Thanks for the encouragement - it's been about 4 months since I tried anything on so it's probably time I get back out there. Though I did order a dress I saw online at Nordstrom & it'd be great if if works out (apparently none of the stores w/in 100 miles of nyc carry it).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
