Calling Canadian/Winnipeg brides

Recommended Posts

Hey girls! I've been thinking about flowers all week. With our package we get a bride's bouquet and groom's bout. included. But what to do for bridesmaids, parents, ect?? I'm wondering if we should order local ones (but I haven't gotten all the info from what's available/cost) or get silk flowers, which can be used for the AHR too.

So I'm just wondering what everyone else is doing? And if anyone from Winnipeg knows where to get silk flowers, that would be great!

Hey Jenn!!

Its been a while!! I havent logged on in a while, been busy with school and work, plus I have time on my side still...for now!

as for flowers, I found this site, and contacted them, they seem very friendly, prices we reasonable, bouquets were around 125-175, bouts around 6 bucks, here is their site Bitter Sweet Wedding Designs - Floramatique Bouquets

I think I want to go with silk, then you know you are getting what you want, no surprizes when you arrive!

How is the rest of the planning going? Along with the social?

Hi Jenn! I know sometimes its hard to get on here when you realize there is more to life than your wedding! LOL

I think I am going to get silk flowers. I was at my friends house a few weeks ago and she has hers on her mantel and its so nice to get to keep them! She actually got hers done by a woman in Lorette, MB. She's very reasonably priced and my friends bouquet looked awesome!! I just have to send her some pictures and hopefully she can find the flowers I want. My friend said she's great at keeping in touch, emailing pics in progress, which is important to me.

Here's the website for anyone who wants to check her out:

The social is coming along. We decided on doing pizza for the food, we can get it at cost from Domino's and it'll just be so easy to serve. My mom will make some cakes too and that will be that! We're still plugging along with getting donations, its the hardest part. After Christmas, we'll do some bargain shopping, we just gotta decide on what we want to get.

I just found out my dress is shipping on Dec.18, so it should be here at the beginning of the new year!

Jenn, I know yours is still far away, but have you made any planning progress?

Cheers!!!

Hey Jenn!!

Wow! Her bouquets are pretty!! And totally resonable!! and local!! I will definetly get in touch with her!

Did she say how well her flowers travel? Just wondering for the flight!

That is very exciting about your dress!! I still like the one I found online bt have not gone actual dress shopping yet, was waiting for the new year.

I think we have narrowed our resort done to 2, but will have to wait for the group rates to come out in the new year for 2011. Then will can make a final decision on the resort, set the date, and get rolling!!

We have started collecting stuff for our social, we got a crap load of decorations!! So we should be good to go in that area, we are having a hallowen social, so you need decorations!!

We too were going to go with pizza, but someone has offered to supply the social food as a gift to us, so I think we will be accepting that, and having the traditional food!

We will be going boxing day to check out deals for social prizes, FYI, Visions will give you a TV at cost for your social if you bring a letter, there isn't a huge mark up on tv's now a days, but any bit helps!! I think we will be getting a TV for one of our grand prizes.

Have you done your invitations yet? I am tossing the idea of doing them myself, or just having them made, I think it would be fun to make them, but I don't want to get in over my head!

Jenn, I don't know about how well the flowers travel, I'll have to ask! I never thought about that. We are just going to do our own invites, I mean everyone is already booked for the trip so its just a formality. And our AHR is casual so we don't need anything fancy.

Its hard waiting for the rates to come in when you want to book! But its good you have 2 places you like so you can compare the rates. Hopefully you're able to get insight on the resorts from here too. I finally found someone on here who got married at our resort and its been so nice having her give me some tips.

Good luck with the Boxing day shopping!!

Hey Jenn,

I am thinking of making our own invites as well, that boarding pass invite seems really cool, a lot of work though, I'll have to see which way we will go!

It's really nice to find people who have been to resort you want, it takes away that anxiety you can get fom the unknown! There is a huge forum on here for our #1 resort, so that has deffinetly helped us in our decision process!

Are you making OOT bags for your guests?

Yes we are making bags for our guests. I've collected a few things so far, but I can't find any bags I like. And I don't want to spend a fortune on them. So I'll keep looking. They will be simple, with first aid and hangover kits, a few snacks, disposable underwater camera and we'll see what else I come up with!

Are you planning on making them??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
