jobs/businesses on the side

Hi all!

Lately I've been thinking about ways to make some extra cash above and beyond my full-time job. I make a decent wage working for the federal government but I'm looking for a little more. I don't want to get a part-time job with crappy retail hours as I work from 7am-5pm now and I love my weekends off.

I've always had an interest in nails. Manicures, painting, gel nails, etc and I just learned that I can take a night course in my city to learn how to do this. I'm just not sure if someone can make enough money doing this?!

Anyway, the point of this thread is to see if any of you have extra jobs/businesses on the side. If so, what do you do? It would be interesting to find out. :)

I'm curious about this too.... I'm looking for something that doesn't require something outside of the degree I already have. But I honestly don't think I would do well at selling pampered chef or party light or anything like that because I don't have a very big group of friends.

So does anyone do anything that anyone can do?

Other option (i hate to suggest this) is babysitting.... apparently the going rate is paying $15-20/hour, holy crap! I used to make $2.50/hour... But here the hours are pretty reasonable if you're willing to give up an occasional weekend

I dont have a side hustle yet.. but I need to find one.. Have any of you ladies thought about some of those work from home business (billing, envolopes, ect?). I am going to try to a weekend job at the apartment complex (or the company) where we stay, they offer discounts to employees. So that would def. help out. Or, maybe the library.. or at the local community school as a tutor (I have a B.S. in Engineering and Math), or what about the temp agencies.

Oh my god this is so crazy. I just spent the entire day trying to look for ideas exactly like this. I'm beginning to hate my job, but I'm not sure what direction to go next. I thought if I could start something on the side, maybe it would take me somewhere!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
